My son had a pc built back in 2017 and is now asking to upgrade the graphic card. I have no idea what to look for, can you help? We have a limited budget of around £400. Is there specific makes we can't consider and he tells me he can't have a "Super"?

This is the current spec:

Kolink KL-500 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Intel Core i7-7700 3.6GHz (Kaby Lake) Socket LGA 1151 Processor - Retail
MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GT OC Dual Fan 3072MB GDDR5 PCI - Express Graphic Card
Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6 Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive
Seagate BarraCuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD
Alpenfohn Brocken ECO CPU Cooler - 120mm
Asus Prime Z270-P Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Team Group Volcun T-Force 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 PCF-19200C14 2400MHz Dual Channel
Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 PCI-Express Sound Card
MSI 27" Gaming Monitor 1080p

Many thanks

This would be about 25%+ upgrade from the 1060

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £249.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

A 2060 non super should be about 30%+ faster
A 2060 super would be about 40+% faster if you can find one.

This all depends on game played, resolution and eye candy.

The only reason to check super cards out is if its power needs are over the rating of your 500 watt psu or they are too long for your case.

Thank you that's what my 14 year old has been telling me about the power needs so he is on the right track!

He is asking for a 2060 but wants an MSI or Asus? Is he correct that Gigabyte won't work with his motherboard?

You know what kids are like think they know it all so just wanting a second opinion.

That Kolink is cheap garbage PSU and would replace it.
It was at most 400W PSU as new and wouldn't even trust that with the lying Kolink does.
And now it's many years used cheapo.
