My FTTC cabinet has a G.Fast module - why can't I order it?

What's your current sync rate? 300m sounds a bit too far.

This line has just been activated so I'd imagine it will negotiate down a little?

Code:
Vigor> vds st
  ---------------------- ATU-R Info (hw: annex A, f/w: annex A/B/C) -----------
   Running Mode : 17A State : SHOWTIME
DS Actual Rate : 79997000 bps US Actual Rate : 19999000 bps
DS Attainable Rate : 81638200 bps US Attainable Rate : 23293000 bps

If it's just been activated then that might be why you're not being offered G.fast yet. What happens if you check an address a few doors closer to the cabinet than you are?

The checker still doesn't mention any G.Fast availability on addresses right beside the cabinet - but it looks like I can't get it right now anyway after googling a bit more

Finding my cabinet here https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm it does list postcodes with 100% coverage of speeds up to 300mbs and mine isn't in it

Maybe I am too far away then though my understanding was the 300 meter cutoff was arbitrary while G.Fast was in a "testing" phase https://www.ispreview.co.uk/broadband_cable.php

I also found info saying G.Fast rollout is on pause for more FTTP work - oh well, doesn't look like I'm getting anything faster soon : https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.p...fast-broadband-rollout-paused-until-2021.html

Are you sure it's a g.fast pod and sure it serves your property? If you already had the cab upgraded, OR have done the build and you can order it from Sky, TT, BT etc.

yeah it's my cab - I'll take a closer look at it next time I'm passing - I believe the side pod would have vents if it's g.fast and none if it's just an expansion for more ports

Confusingly Openreach can deploy VDSL side pods as an alternative to a whole new cabinet when the existing cabs fill up. Is there any G.fast in your area at all?

No one has mentioned, Gfast pods are (or at least the ones in Oxfordshire including my own) are fitted to the side of the PCP telephone (old style) cabinet, not the FTTC cabinet. The additions to the FTTC cabinets are to my knowledge, expansion units only for that service.
