Hi all,

I currently have a PCI Express 3.0 riser cable installed in my system connected to a PCI Express 3.0 GPU.

Asus B550I ROG Stix ITX.

When I move to a 3000/6000 series GPU I am guessing I will need to force my BIOS to go to PCI Express 3.0?

If so will this turn off PCI Express 4.0 completely thus reducing my Gen 4 SSD too?

Can't remember which board it was but at work I had a 3080 with gen 3 riser cable and had to set the x16 slot to gen 3. When set to Gen 4 kept getting strange errors. Dont remember what exactly as I see lot of pcs with issues at work haha

Assorted Youtubers have reported problems with riser cables if the slot is not set to PCIe v3. But you can still have the M.2 slots - and the other PCIe slots - at v4.

Awesome, thanks so much for you help guys appreciate it.

I will try PCIe 4.0 to begin with and if I have any issues I will switch over. I grabbed myself an Nividia 1030 to tide me over until I upgrade, really good card considering what it is.

Good to know I can still run PCIe 4.0 on the M.2 slot though.
