It’s for my nephew, he wants to call of duty and his rx570 is struggling

He currently has a Ryzen 5 1600 , 8gb ram and 500w psu, Budget is around £250

Not many options in that price range, unfortunately. if you can stretch to a rx 3060 ti (£370 for reference model) its a powerful GPU for the money. Or, wait until January for release of the RX 6700 GPUs.

Or, try looking for a 2nd hand GPU - The RTX 2060 is going for ~£300 on auction sites.

probably a good idea to stick to 1080p for this budget, to keep the framerate high.

Not really seeing much about COD, I assume it's cold war, but are you sure it's the gpu and not something else? Or even the game being problematic?

Edit: Could it be RAM? The vid is showing >9GB used at one point. Kinda hope it is the RAM as it'll be much cheaper than the currently overpriced GPUs

I just upgraded from an RX570 Nitro+ to a 3060Ti and it’s a very good upgrade. You’ll struggle to find better value for money at the moment than the FE version.

changed my mind, definitely get a 5600 xt, I found it for ~£260 new on AMD's website. best value sub £300 GPU.

rtx 3060 TI is best value sub £400 gpu, if you can even get 1.

here's a chart showing 1080p performance of the RX 570, RX 5600 XT and RTX 3060 TI:

No idea tbh , he’s requested a new gfx card for Christmas and I just said I’ll ask what’s good for his budget

I’ll have a look but I’m guessing it’s out of his price range

You will 100% want to add another 8 GB of ram to the system, it's going to be bad enough with a 1600 as it is but only 8 gb? Rough.

Fair enough, just let him know that it might not solve his COD problems. I mean who doesn't want a new GPU for Christmas :D

the ryzen 1600 is pretty close to the recommended cpu spec, should be fine.

if getting sudden fps drops, could be a lack of ddr ram. try monitoring the memory usage in game, the game recommends 12gb.

5600 xt should be plenty at 1080p, about 74% faster than the RX 570.

the rtx 3060 ti is about 164% faster!
