I have an unused Gigabyte motherboard that will accept up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM running at up to 2200 MHz. If I install 2 x 8GB of 1600 MHz RAM will it cause any problems?

I ask because 2200 MHz Ram seems to be unavailable; 2 x 8GB of DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) RAM only costs about £2 more than 2 x 8GB of DDR3 PC3-10666 (1333 MHz) RAM and I would like subsequently to be able to use the RAM in some other (faster) motherboard.

The memory support list for that board states up to 4gb sticks of 12800 are supported (the board supports 16gb max), it has no mention of 8gb sticks so I wouldnt like to say (the latest BIOS updates have memory compatibility updates listed)

Thanks all. I have a 2 x 8 GB planes in another system (albeit PC3-10666 (1333 MHz)); I will try them out and see where to go next.
If 4 x 4GB planes are all that will work - so be it.
