AB is killing me, taking absolutely ages to bench each voltage point. Up to [email protected] and already hitting max tdp. Only another 20 or so to go. :rolleyes:

I'm getting kind of sick of the Asus Strix 3090 OC coil whine at this point, it's so ****ing loud! It died down for a bit, but then after installing a waterblock and backplate, it's come back in force again.

Never really run into it, do people have success changing PSU manufacturers to help reduce it? I'm currently running a Corsair RM850, thinking of trying an Asus 1kw

1kv psu gives you much less of a chance of getting coil whine, but doesn't mean you might not get it. A good rated 1KV should give you less chance of it. I'm running 1K enermax, dead silent except when my fans ramp.
The whine generally happens the harder you work your psu, so to minimise the chances of it happening, make sure it doesn't work too hard, drop voltages or up the psu power limit. what's your card drawing when the whine starts?

Yeah no loud whine on mine, not had any on this PSU its a 750w Gold Seasonic. This is on 290x, vega56 and now a 3090FE.

My understanding is coil whine has nothing to do with PSU, its purely down to type of coils and amount of current going through them on the GPU isint it?

I have seen people that change PSU that either the whine is not as bad, or it disappears. You are correct that it can be the GPU and its not the PSU at all.

Actually doing some more reading and makes sense. It can be either, PSU's have coils in them aswell... so do motherboards so it can come from any of them.

Yes like you say any electronics that use coils. Hence coil whine.
