It's a Wonderful Life is No 1 for me - although it's a hard slog of a movie to get to the pay off.

Scrooged has wonderful memories for me. Saw this at the cinema with a past gf many years ago. Watching it nowadays it's such a feel good film and the ending when it all comes together, always makes the room a little dusty.

I always tend to keep from watching Die Hard until Christmas Eve, the rest I can watch whenever and sometimes multiple viewings.

Haven't seen it - Joyeux Noel, I'd thought it was more recent than 2005, plots all about the xmas day football match, if it is like all quiet on the western front, it will be a tear jerker.

but a christmas movie = movie always associated with uk xmas too ? both have snow, Doctor Zhivago, "Broadsword calling Dannie Boy" - the school bus escape.

Personally, I can't start Christmas until I've watched White Christmas :)

Put me down for White Christmas as well Trading Places. White Christmas is definitely up there as one of the best. As long as you don't spend too long thinking about how anorexic Vera Ellen looks, you'll be fine.

I do like Die Hard but it does seem to be overhyped as a Christmas movie - I think people just like it as action / violence is the opposite of what people think about when it comes to Christmas... still doesn’t make it an amazing Christmas film for me.

Muppets Christmas Carol is really good and charming, probably my favourite.
