Ive tried to look up everything on these drives. Noise/reliability etc ...

Suggestive they might be noisy - although there have been some people that have said they are very quiet.

I can get a good deal on a 14 or 16 tb exos drive but since it will be in my system which sits near me I wont want it to be loud. There is a significant difference in price for the barracuda to the exos in price.

any experience with them in the 12-16tb range?

Not directly what you're after, but the 10tb drive I shucked last month is mega noisy.
Noticeable clunk when spinning up, and seeking is very loud as well.

Definitely the loudest drive of the 10 spinners in the server. (Total mix of stuff, couple of ancien5 Samsungs, couple of WD Greens, WD RE, Toshiba, several Seagates)

Thanks, good to know. I was thinking they were noisy... But didn't have concrete proof.
