Hi all,

I just installed a new Graphics Card and when I was about to close the case again this screw like looking thing just fell out of the case... I have no idea where this could be from and there was no obvious sign of any screw missing anywhere but clearly this came from somewhere?

Do you guys know what this is?

First of all thanks a lot for the replies already! By the way it is definitely a thumbscrew in case the pictures are not coming up clearly.

Here are the details of my system (bought from Overclockers 4-5 years ago):

Intel i7-5820K 3.30GHz (Haswell-E) Socket LGA2011-V3 Processor
HD-191-SA Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5"
NZXT H440 New 2015 Edition Case - White & Black
MSI GeForce GTX 980Ti Gaming 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G)
Super Flower Leadex GOLD 850W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply
Black HD-412-WD WD Black 4TB 7200rpm
Asus X99-Pro Intel X99 (Socket 2011) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Asetek 360mm 591LX
Asetek Premium Retention Kit Intel LGA2011

Noiseblocker BlackSilent Pro Fan PLPS - 120mm PWM
Noiseblocker BlackSilent Pro Fan PLPS - 120mm PWM
Noiseblocker BlackSilent Pro Fan PLPS - 120mm PWM
Avexir Core Blue Series 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C16 2400MHz Quad Channel Kit

If I understand some of the comments right, it might be related to this?

I recently had to replace the Liquid Cooling system due to a pump breakdown and replaced it with a "Scythe SCNJ-5000 Ninja 5 CPU cooler - 120mm" - probably worth mentioning?

If it is indeed a waterblock thumbscrew, given that the waterblock system is no longer in place - can I ignore this?

One more comment, I just checked again as best as I can without dismantling the entire system (photos attached) and the only (other?) thing I can think of is that it came off one of the motherboard screws but that would mean that one screw had an entirely different head....

If the only thing that you did was add a graphics card, wouldn't it be more likely to be a thumb screw for a PCI bracket? I've had a case with thumbscrews for the PCI bracket, though I've have thought you'd notice easily.

If it has no pointy bit on the other side then it must have been a retention, spacer thingy.

It does look like a water cooler screw from the pump head. I would assume you dropped it when you replaced the cooler.

I'd bet it's from your mounting kit - best to check it out before you damage the CPU due to lack of cooling. See the below picture and you can easily see that it's part of the kit.

I think he replaced his watercooling with a heatsink, so it probably fell when he was removing it to fit the heatsink. So should be fine.
