Availability is VERY bad, 3+ months after launch and the stock and back order situation is still completely dire.
So basically had to take what I could find, from where I could find it or stick with a 1080ti for another 6 months or so.

But I can relax now... as the 3070 will fill in fine while I wait for the 3080ti to drop next year.

For pure FPS is it best to overclock these cards or undervolt? I seem to bounce off the power limit when overclocking and I’m unsure whether this impacts on performance?

Jury is still out.I didnt expect it to run so hot and noisy. The 3060ti FE I had was really quiet and cool even when overclocked.

After getting a 15mm fan for the bottom of my 240mm AIO to get the 3070 to fit in there I tried benchmarks and was quite happy with my score about 10% over the 3060ti. Played Zombie Army 4 for couple of hours and thought my god the room is hot. Checked the temp and it was 76c and noticed the fans really loud when I took my headset off. People have been reporting the backplate is very hot to touch like too hot.

So then I thought have I got a card with poor cooling but then after reading realised the 3070's and up do run hot, not quite GTX 480 type hot but hot. So this annoyed me as I like to have my GPU under 70c preferably around 60-65c. Realised the card was doing 150-200fps which is also probably why. So I have gsync on and turned on vsync in Nvidia Control panel so it would match my monitor hz for FPS (75) and it ran cooler around 70-72c with the fans being quieter. I tried a custom fan curve but couldnt get it right.

So I found an easy undervolting guide for Afterburner and tried it with 850mv as suggested and Time Spy failed, tried it with 875mv same result. Tried it with 0900mv @ 1950mhz and it stabilised. Added 1000 on the memory too. Ran Timespy and it actually ran faster than stock settings so quite pleased. Also it was over 1000 points more than my 2080ti. Cooling wise its dropped about 10c so seeing 60-66c temps with fans okay. On stock it was showing about 240-250w or thereabouts now with undervolting its 190w-200w. Speedwise getting 1950-1980mhz so quite happy.

It is indeed very loud. The fans are smaller compared to my 1080. And boy, do they spin .
I like keeping a cold room and this little guy was running at 70C with the hellish turbines on what seemed to be 100% on stock settings. Can't imagine what summertime is going to be like.

What's your voltage curve look like? going to try fiddling with it.

I'd love a FE 3080, especially for the pricetag. The 3070 GamingPro OC was £630.
But people are swarming to buy my 1080, lol.

Considering snagging a 3070FE if i can get one, the aib cards pricing (currently) is ludicrous, in excess of 3080 FE pricing and 6800xt for the most part.

Is that undervolt on the 3070 or 3080? I didn’t realise there was a tick to correct the curve... I manually moved each point

3070, you do not move everyone just the one then click apply (the tick) and it auto produces a new curve for you levelling out at whatever mhz you set eg 1950mhz

I followed this guide its for the FE but worked for my Palit. 850/875mv was not stable but 900mv was and the drop in wattage was really dramatic down to 180/190w yet it was faster.

where it says -200 clock I did -100 clock where it says 1800mhz I first did 1900mhz then 1950mhz but didnt push it anymore.

Sent my 3070 back for a refund....Didn't sit right with paying what I did just to get my system back up and running....

Got myself a 3060TI FE for £379 and bagged the £320...Certainly not worth the extra cost...Cant even tell if I'm honest at 3440x 1440p

Nope, buttery smooth @ 1440UW with settings set pretty high but no RTX. I did see some brief stuttering on BF5 when I gave that a go but it went away so I'm going to assume it was some background shader stuff going on because I cranked that out of curiosity and behold, what everyone says is true: RTX/DLSS(1.0) and max settings in BF5 is indeed a complete waste of time.
