I've been running my current pc for nearly the last ten years with a few upgrades along the way and have recently added a 1070GTX as I've started playing some games again.

It runs what I play on GTA V, Battlefield 2, F1 2019 fine but I'd like to to be able to run some of the newer titles.

I'm also maxed out on drive space aswel and don't want to invest in an old SATA SSD when the new M2 drives are hundreds times faster at least on paper but my existing motherboard won't support them.

With all that in mind I am looking for advice on an upgrade to a AMD Ryzen setup.

Max budget of £700 but cheaper the better.

I intend on keeping my existing Case, PSU, GPU and water cooling setup unless you can give me good reasons not to, so I will just need CPU, Ram, MB + SSD.

Current spec
CPU i7 2600k @ 4ghz water cooled,
16gb DDR3 Ram 1600 MHz
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3
EVGA 1070 GTX
Samsung 240gb SATA SSD
Antec case
OCZ 600w PSU
3 x 24" 1080p screens main screen is 144hz

I am thinking of

AMD Ryzen 5600X
B550 board with WiFi
16GB DDR4
1TB M2 SSD

This is what I have in my basket at the minute can anyone advise if this looks good or if there's any better alternatives.

YOUR BASKET
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Six Core 4.6GHz (Socket AM4) Processor
£319.99*

Asus B550M-A (WI-FI) (AMD AM4) B550 Micro-ATX Motherboard
£129.95*

Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) 3600 MHz AMD Ryzen Tuned DDR4 Memory Dual Kit
£79.99*

Patriot Viper VPN100 M.2 2280 PCIe 1TB SSD
£128.99*

Goods total £658.92

With the proposed new setup combined with my 1070GTX can I expect to be able to run newer titles at 1080p?

Thanks,

Will there be much performance difference going for a Ryzen 3600 over the 5600X?

Just seen I can get a 3600 for £190 saving me another £130.

I take it I could still get the B550 board to future proof it and the 3600 would still be a huge improvement over my i7 2600k

The 3600 would be a good upgrade from your old system , the 5600x is about 20% faster than a 3600 so its your call.

If you get the 3600 you won't have to update the bios.
