Because I'd rather have one that wants to be here, not just looking for a payday. The last thing we need is another Sanchez or Di Maria, some people on here seem to have short memories.
Yeah but every free agent is potentially a mercenary and goes to the highest bidder, if it wasn't a monetary decision he'd be staying at Bayern surely, why would you swap Munich (pretty much guaranteed silverware) to Man Utd (where silverware is far from guaranteed).

Don't forget you've had Ibra, Cavania and Ighalo (on loan I think) on short term deals who have been ok

None of those three are choosing to leave a big club because they want more money, it's rather different.
Neither did Sanchez or Di Maria but look how that turned out, City pulled out of the Sanchez deal because it didn't make financial sense, how many people at the time said if a team with unlimited funds pull out of a deal then it's really not a good idea but many Man Utd fans were laughing at City saying Utd had more pulling power than City and Manchester would always be red.

Maybe the focus at United should be finding ways to ship out the dead wood first.

Romero, Jones, Rojo, Lingard, (maybe Fosu-Mensah as well).

Pogba should be off as soon as someone comes sniffing, also wouldn't be too bothered about Martial being sold; he's such a patience tester and totally unreliable. Matic and Mata are done at this level, maybe a replacement for one of them needs to be found if Pogba finally ****s off.

Di Maria came off the back of winning a champions League and being their best player in that final. No one expected him to be a flop.

Same with Sanchez. He was arguably Arsenal's best player when he left and still at his peak scoring 30 goals the previous season.

RVP was bought for a large amount of wedge at the time and won us the title that year. Swings and roundabouts.

Also Phil Jones could be sold to Liverpool in January. Klopp can turn him into the Prime Maldini that Sir Alex predicted :D
