The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Yeah I've been really enjoying it so far, I was very happy to see it had a full 24 episode run as if it stopped at where we've gotten to I'd find it pretty unsatisfactory ... shounen ones tend to grate on me after a bit, but the MC here isn't actually annoying (like say Black Clover) and it's so far managing to have the best bits while avoiding the worst.

Got a few recommendations for ya. :)

Shirobako.
Great little anime about an anime studio. Very informative, I learned a lot about the industry.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi.
It's one of those weird time-shifting anime, where some random dude has a change to change the future by altering the past! If he gets it right, he could save the lives of multiple children, but if he gets it wrong, they're all ******! This was a very intelligent anime, definitely worth watching.

Akudama Doraibu.
It's the future, so naturally everything looks like Blade Runner! There was a big war years ago, but everyone's mostly got over that, and now all they have to worry about is the vast uninhabitable zone which can only be traversed by the shinkansen linking Kansai with Kanto.

Oh, and a bunch of super criminals called Akudama... and a murderous team of government enforcers called Exterminators. But apart from that, it's not so bad!

I've just finished Sword Art Online Alicization, and now really want to see War for the Underworld as it left it on a cliff hanger.

In the meantime I'm going to start on FMP: Invisible Victory tonight, making sure to start off with the audio dramas, by the time I've finished that hopefully my blu-ray copy of Weathering For You will have arrived from Zavvi.
[edit]
Actually I'll start with one from the backlog, possibly Yusibuo, Photo Kano or Amachu.
[/edit]

I've also made a rough list of my anime blu-ray backlog, it's longer than I thought...

009*
Ajin season 2
Amanchu*
Anthem of the heart
Belladonna of Sadness
Birthday Wonderland
Brothers Conflcit*
(The) case of Hana and Alice

Magic Knight Rayearth
March comes in like a lion
Miss Hokasu
My Love Story
Noein* (watched the dvd years ago)
Norn 9*
Nurse witch Komugiu R*
Photo Kano*
Plastic Memories
Princess Arete
Punchline.
Revolutionary girl Utena

Starmyu

Vampire Hunter D bloodlust
Vatican Miracle examiner
Welcome to the ballroom
Yusibu -I couldn’t become a hero, so I decided to get a job.*

Most of these have either been in the backlog for under 6 months (but get pushed back by newer stuff), or were picked up very cheap, but some have been in their for 1-3 years (marked with a *), mainly from mystery boxes, and have just kept getting pushed back.

2021 I'll have to make an effort to really clear that backlog, especially the older stuff.

On a slight side note, I just saw Zombieland Saga is getting a second season, which I'm looking forward to, as I really enjoyed the first season.

just finish watching noblesse (2020) very good but i do recommend watching the two ova/ona priors to watching the tv series as they laid the ground work for the series especially ova 2 "awakening" as tv series follows on directly from the aftermath of that ova.

Think it's been almost 2 weeks since I did my previous update, but cyberpunk came out and Christmas/new year stuff came up.

Basically seen season 1 of a few shows and plan to start season 2 of them all, so nothing too exciting in terms of new watches, just making progress on current things.

Finished:
  • Toradora! - I really enjoyed this and it was fun posting to the reddit rewatch thread each day, although not without some additional time commitment for write ups and such. Ami-chan best girl.
  • Attack on Titan - I'm going to remove this from my list and plan to watch more season 4 once it's come out. So this will come back on later.
  • Hunter x Hunter - I've put this on hold in favour of watching MHA instead for a bit. Might flip back to Hunter x Hunter once season 2 of MHA is watched.
Continuing:
  • Code Geass - Finished season 1, wow was not expecting some of what went down. Without spoiling anything felt really bad for a certain character near the end of Season 1. Onto season 2 soon.
  • Log Horizon - Finished season 1 of this as well. It's a bit slower paced but still interesting to watch. I like that it tackles things in a unique way. My only real complaint is the art isn't as good as a lot of the shows I watch made in this era. Not sure if S2 improves on the art at all.
  • The Irregular at Magic High School - Finished season 1 of this. It was a fun watch but was ultimately a little paint by numbers in my opinion. I enjoyed what I saw but not as unique as other things I've seen. It has quite an interesting magic system but it also suffers from being a bit confusing.
  • My Hero Academia - Also finished season 1 of this. I really enjoyed this for it's crisp artwork and hype building. It's a typical shonen in some respects but it's a very good example of one, and if I'm going to watch a shonen it may as well be something of this calibre.
Planning to watch (short list - roughly in order probably. Bold = starting imminently):
  • Girls' Last Tour (I will actually start this soon)
  • Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
  • Isekai Quartet S1
  • Assassination Classroom
  • A Place Further Than the Universe
  • DARLING in the FRANXX
  • The Future Diary
  • Cautious Hero - The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious
My plan to watch list is more or less the same as before, but I will throw in a couple of recommendations based on random trash watched in-between my main shows. None of these should be watched with the parents for thematic reasons:

Kuzu no Honkai (Scums wish) - What would a romance anime look like if it didn't pander to the obvious? This.

Kakegurui (Gambling School) - The basic idea is that this school exists where success or failure is decided by gambling. What if the stakes became higher than just money? What if the only thrill you can get is with high stakes gambling? This exists to attempt to answer such questions.

Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne - So being immortal would be cool right? what if you also threw in assassins, mystery, torture, lesbians, and frankly a fair bit of nudity. You get this.

Slime is very enjoyable, I'm possibly looking at Ancient Magus Bride but half holding out for a complete collection, same with Card Captor Sakura (the original was fun, but it's been ~15 years since I watched that).

One of the issues I always tend to have with sales, is that often I've already got most of the titles I'm interested in, especially the older ones.

Yeah I know what you mean, I am backfilling a couple of shows I've liked, fortunately I still needed Overlord S2 after getting S1 and S3 recently.

I'm also watching more stuff as I go so my list of things I want to buy should increase as I go, although I really need to enjoy the series enough to want to buy it.

Definitely awaiting complete collections or at least seasons though, slime and shield hero are only in the parts which I am trying to avoid, so if a collection ever appears I'd probably buy that, if not I may not buy it at all.

Well first show of the new season is up: Tatoeba Last Dungeon Mae no Mura no Shounen ga Joban no Machi de Kurasu Youna Monogatari...

Terribly long name, and the first couple minutes had me worried and didn't look good ... but it quickly rallied when it just then flicked to the MC being in the city, so far it seems like a winner and I'll be watching it, lots of tsukkomi and when the princess got all crazy eyes it had be laughing.

I remember one season before when there was a bunch of shows with really long names and I was curious as to why, it's apparently something to do with helping the LNs stand out... but to me it'd seem bad as unless I can easily reference something I'm probably more inclined to just never mention it.

Just finished watching all of Seven Deadly Sins and all I can say is WOW. This show is just amazing. So sad I can't watch it anymore, I was hooked from start to finish all 4 seasons.

Watched it after watching Attack on Titan which was recommended by a friend, which I also loved. I've only ever watched these 2 animes but feels like nothing will ever match them as they are so good, especially 7DS though.

Now the wait for Season 5 begins sigh...

My mentioned friend got a Dragonballz tattoo a few months ago and I thought it was a bit weird as I had never watched it or any anime for that matter. Now I'm thinking whether to get a tattoo of AoT or 7DS. :p

Also need something new to watch hmm.. feel like a whole world has opened up to me with anime!

There are a ridiculous number of things to watch, you may well change your mind on that sometime!

RE: Tattoos I'd strongly advise watching more stuff first to improve the level of certainty about what you want.

I'm sure we could collectively make some recommendations, what kind of theme do you like?
