Before I start this I get that the mid range pricing has been way over the top for some time, this time round I think there’s been a good bump but could be better.

right, saying that top end cards used to be £450’ish is fair enough but you forget that people that wanted to play at high resolutions bought 2/3/4 of the high end cards when sli and crossfire was still viable.

for me this is no different to what I was paying ten years ago.

Don’t get me wrong I would love the prices to be lower but I think what I mentioned above gets forgotten.

It's 3090 owners that will be stung I think. The 3090 wasn't touted as a gaming card and has lots of VRAM. I wouldn't be surprised if the 3080 Super is as fast as the 3090 with less VRAM for significantly less money.

3090 will still be the best card performance wise. Rumours about both the 3080Ti and 3080 Super point to a smaller memory bus on both compared to the 3090.

Granted the performance difference has gone from 5% to about 2%...but it’s still the best card

It’s odd Nvidia are trying to squeeze two skus into a performance gap that’s barely there to start with.

A lot of people equate having a lot of different cards to having all the best cards...there's method in this madness from NV, flood the market with SKU's, it makes AMD look like like the much weaker option as they have far fewer cards to buy (in terms of SKU's). The gap between NV and AMD is much smaller than the general public thinks, and choice can be very situational, but when you have NV with endless cards and AMD with far fewer - perception is king.

They know their customer base and exploit it. I bet many of those who bought a 3080 will 'upgrade' to a 3080Ti just for the E-peen bonus. They will justify the purchase in their heads and be happy that it has more VRAM for future proofing, not realizing that they could easily wait and just upgrade to the next gen in a years time.

I look forward to the cheeky offers in the 3080 mm threads :D

I very much doubt it.

Complete shambles how can you put the top end card at £1400 and a 15% lower for arguments sake performance card at £649 then expect to sit two products in between them... Absolute mess this series.

Don't underestimate the power of epeen and nvidia fans ;) :p

Still feel somewhat sorry for the poor souls who let their 2080tis go for £350-400!

Just need the stock to big up big time and see prices come back closer to MSRP and I wouldn't be surprised if we see people putting offers of £550-650 in for 3080s.....

On a slightly different note, just seen a 1070 go for £170 on the mm..... you know the gpu sector is bad when that sold for that price on here of all places!!! :D

Definitely going to be looking for at least £200 for my OC vega 56 given that in 2019, a stock vega 56 was basically on the heels of a 1080 :o AMD fine wine for you....

Reckon? I dunno, the gap is so small and the extra performance will be small if the Ti doesn't beat the 3090. Don't think I'd bother swapping a 3080 for a Ti/Super. Guess we'll only know when they are actually released. Aimed at folk convinced that 10GB of GDDR6x isn't enough.

As 6X is potentially twice as fast as 6, wonder if 10GB of GDDR6x does the equivalent work as 16GB of GDDR6? Can't find much info on the relationship between 6X and 6...

Essex innit!
8 years ago I paid £840 ish each for my 2 Titans. I didn't mind spending that back then, as I was big into gaming and it was paid with overtime funds. Now I see a 3090 at £1500 and can't justify it, purely because I really am not gaming much (except for CP2077). If I was still gaming like I was in 2013 though, I would have got a 3090 or a 6900XT and been happy with it. I don't berate anyone who chooses to buy or not buy, as it is down to the individual.

I have personally decided to knock my Nephew and carry on with my 2080Ti (I was going to give it to him) til the next round.

I got £220 for my Red Dragon, so it only cost me £30 for the 18 months I had it!

They're in a weird spot, if the ti is faster than the 3090 then it makes the 3090 pointless from a gaming perspective. If it's not faster than the 3090 then it's just a vram upgrade for probably around an extra 300+ on top of the price of a 3080. They probably hoped the 3090 would be a bit faster than it is so they could have a slot to plonk the ti in between the 3080 and 3090, but now it seems their only choices are to either make it faster or make it essentially just a vram upgrade.

3080Ti/Super have GDDR6 or GDDR6x?

You reckon that memory upgrade will be in GDDR6X or GDDR6? As the latter could make it cheaper.

Nothing nvida haven't done before, if it's faster than 3090 they would just release a new top tier card for insane money :p

No, the leaks suggest both a 3080Ti and a 3080 Super are getting released.

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-planning-geforce-rtx-3080-super-geforce-rtx-3070-super-graphics-cards/

That is genuinely funny. There's barely a 15% difference between a 3080 and 3090.. It's mostly a 10% difference in 90% of games. Where is there room for another 2 cards in that gap... Releasing cards for the sake of it. What is the point:D

How about just make more regular 3080s please for a decent price:rolleyes:
