So lets' review.

This is Win7, the user puts in a username and password in the wireless settings, but doesn't actually have WiFi on this desktop and instead connects via cable to a powerline adapter, or at least, we think that is the case?

I'm going to take a wild guess that it's not the wifi password Windows was asking, but came up with the prompt that he has to sign in to use the network, since Windows thinks it's connected to the local network and not the internet, when in reality it's the powerline adapters failing to sync with each other. Potentially it was the login page to the powerline web UI?
