It releases our other midfielders to advance with cover, and makes us more secure when Trent and Robbo go forward.

Thiago's a Maybach of a player. Villas kids put up a great defensive fight in the first half but he's been sublime since he came on, not given them a sniff of the ball and upped our tempo massively.
United will fancy their chances if Williams starts against them, slowest player I've seen since Molby.

An experience they won’t forget
Just read a decent article on the Athletic about this. Effectively, it pointed out that Fabinho is our best ball winner, which is key to how we play. With him at the back rather than in midfield, we've won possession back an average of five metres deeper (and often with three lines of the opposition rather than two between us and the other team's goal) which is one of the things affecting how we attack.
