@Rotty, the biggest issue that crops up with the b58 engine is the oil filter housing, this is exacerbated if the oil changes are infrequent (long life).

They take very well to a remap ;)

cheers, it will be a work car so prob won't bother with remap :p

it's full main dealer history so far, I will keep history up though maybe at a specialist Indy

Intention is to run as a work car until I retire so prob 5-6 years and 60-70k miles total

Most sobering revelation posted in Motors for a while.....

The M140i was going for c£29k-£33k for a long while, depending on options. There were some crazy low monthly deals with minimal deposits due to heavily discounted APRs too. I would have said £17k felt about right for this. If you really wanted it £17.5k.

Sounds like a cracking deal where you both came off good (assuming they would have WBAC or done a low-book trade in).

Let us know how you get on. I was desperate to take an M140 black/shadow edition or w/e they were called. At one point they were £369 down with £369 a month which was nuts and deserved a punt.

Will do

He had 17k p/ex offer, maybe he will go back without the p/ex and try and do better though I find that's not always as easy as people think

Agreed. The p/x offer is always based on the whole deal...it's just part of the recipe for selling a new car is all. For the garage to increase the offer they have to deem there's enough margin in the whole deal.

I've not had this experience but I can see how it could make sense. Often they've been pleased when I've said I'll do the sale of my current motor. Maybe it's because mine have mostly been going to partners in their network, E.g. a Merc part ex for a Jag, a Jag part ex for a Merc.

17k is a great price. I wouldn't be surprised if they had priced in some expected margin for that.

The calculator values always underestimate when there are loads of options and some like an MP exhaust added.
