No way would you get 10% more by going from 3600 to 4000. most likely just frustration from instability. Best case scenario I'd say a couple of percentage points. I don't know if there's any benchmarks out there that compare this on the Zen 3s. Personally I think you get very very diminished returns beyond 3600 to the point that it's probably not worth it.

p.s
Just had a quick look

Yeah... so not worth it..

Thank you Anthos. That is very interesting indeed. It does seem counter-intuitive though at the 4000MHz speeds he was getting less performance. That does seem very strange doesn't it ?

Well with ram it is always a complicated situation as higher speeds have looser timings and although ryzen likes the higher speeds likely it might be hitting a ceiling at some point, or maybe immature bios, or I don't know, maybe someone more versed than me has a more clear idea.

The only situation probably I would say it might be worth it for even higher speed ram would be if they are gaming at 200+hz at 1080p. Because at high resolutions you are more gpu bound which will make the ram difference between high speeds really neglible (if any).

Well, I think it finally comes down to either of these two. Thank you folks for all your help.

G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB (2 x 16) DDR4 PC4-3600 CAS 16 : 16-16-16-36 : F4-3600C16D-32GTZR (also mentioned on this thread..thank you LovingBenji and DJ Switch)

G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB (2 x 16) DDR4 PC4-3600MHz CAS 16 : 16-19-19-39 : F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC (thank you RichL)

I'm veering more to the second RAM, the Neo, as it's allegedly optimised for the AMD Zen 3, it's a modest and conservative chip that will work right off the bat with XMP settings apparently. Stable and reliable too so I hear. Also newer than the chip listed above it.

I think I have finally decided that if I want the major gains in FPS for gaming, it's better to get a 3090 where the gains will be more, than opting for 4400/4000 memory. Eventually, I'll do both at some point down the line, but with my Sabrent Rocket Plus, I should get enough oomph as it is.

Thank you all.

I have 2000 FLCK running on the new bios (5900X) with 32GB F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC @ 4000MHz 16-19-19-39. I will try my 64GB b die kit later too.

I tried 3202 and reverted back to 3003. I could at least run 3800 this time but with errors unlike 3101, but 4000 wouldnt boot. 3003 is still the only stable BIOS for me

Hello there, looking for a Bios settings overclocking guide for our Dark Hero, can't find a proper guide on Internet and I'm particulary interested about the various settings that should be enabled or not (like the C-States etc ..)

Is OCUK also doing a queue system with this board? (like what they did with RTX 3000 series and Ryzen 5000 series? ) because I placed my order for the dark hero yestarday and it was in stock with "+10 available" however today shows it "out of stock" but the still allows you to "add it to the basket". and is't exactly the way how they where doing the ryzen 5000 queue.

I need it for a build this week :(

Still showing in stock for me, placed my order on Friday evening and hoping it’ll ship today. But I do know OCUK we’re having some trouble with the volume of orders and the number of warehouse staff because of COVID-19.

did you try your 64gb kit and is it 2 sticks of 32gb or 4 sticks of 16gb? I still have been unable to get my Dark Hero to run with 4 sticks of 16gb 8Pack TForce Extreem 3600.

I can still only get it to run with 2 * 16gb sticks

Got exactly the same myself, but it's 2x8GB TForce Xtreem ARGB 3600 CL14 RAM. Two sticks are fine, 4 (or 3) doesn't POST. I get the orange LED at the top light up (RAM issue) and a "0d" on the Q-Code. I raised this with Asus, they suggested changing some power related things for power states 4 and 5 - didn't work. Then suggested the beta BIOS - but I didn't try that.

I've seen elsewhere on the internet people suggesting it's to do with motherboard flex and to loosen the cooler on the CPU, but I really don't want to dismantle the machine right now
