It may not be as fast as a few of the AIB 3090’s but for sure, the build quality and feel of it is a distinct cut above the rest.

This thing is a beast. I can't believe how quiet it is. Runs ten degrees cooler than my 1080TI FTW 3 under load.

I had to update my X570 Aorus Elite bios otherwise it was making an additional beep on boot, presumably some compatibility issue. Interesting to see resize bar is now an option in the bios. That'll be interesting to try out with 24gb of VRAM.

My computer is benching slower than the average which needs investigating, but still 99% faster than most gaming PC's. I'm leaning towards it being CPU related rather than GPU but will have to work it out. It's still miles faster than before.

VR games are running so much better, which was the main reason for the upgrade, even Oculus games via Revive on the Index have much improved performance and look amazing.

Noticed the same thing with 3D Mark when I checked benchmarks when I upgraded my system to an RTX3090 and 5600X CPU with everything running at stock. You'll find that a lot of the benchmarks logged are running with some sort of overclock applied somewhere, so the fact you are below average is probably nothing to worry about - if your GPU score is about 19k in Timespy then you are fine.

I'm also running CV1 and your comments on whether to go for a Quest are interesting - playing Space Pirate Trainer without being tethered by a cable with the improved resolution sounds appealing.

Yeah I'm getting around 19,000 GPU in Timespy, so no need to worry.

I am getting some annoying hitches in Skyrim VR where it goes unresponsive for a few frames, but that may be due to the SteamVR framerate issue that Nvidia say will be fixed in the latest drivers, and in any case Skyrim isn't the best optimised game when you throw lots of mods at it. It does look massively better now that I can run at 150%ss though, and when it isn't hitching it's massively smoother.

I loved my CV1. All I really wanted was an upgraded one with higher resolution - everything else worked for me perfectly. I had a three sensor setup which gave better tracking than my Valve Index. But the Quest 2 is a good replacement, for both the wireless, and the clarity.

I really hope resizeable bar will be available on the Z390 platforms, im guessing it will be done via a bios update. Really dont want to upgrade again just to take advantage of this extra few % in performance.

Resizable Bar support is implemented in the latest bios for my X570 Aorus Elite. Still got to wait for Nvidia to release the drivers enabling it though.

I had to update the bios anyway, as there was some sort of compatibility issue with the older bios and the 3090 - it was beeping on boot (but still working).

5950x and 3090 were pushing the poor 510 Elite to its limit in terms of its already limited thermal capabilities

Finally managed to get a O11D and it looks so much better and a lot more room to breath. Crazy that in a case this size, it’s still millimetres away from touching the glass. Will eventually get a vertical mounting kit when proper PCIe 4 riser cables are available

Also, I had no idea until I opened iCUE that the founders cards have controllable RGB. The light at the top, managed to make it purple rather than white to fit in with the rest of the lighting. Shame you can’t do the same with the text

I tried undervolting, but didn't seem to make much difference in power consumption, but did lead to a slight drop in performance so I'll probably not bother. Followed a couple of different guides so I think I got it right.

90mhz and a 300mhz was what my card gave me with the Palit auto OC feature, looks just fine, you don't have to overclock your card unless you want to bench it.

You can't change the colour but you can make it pulse on and off ;)
