Sounds like your PSU might not be up to the task.

What are you using and how many cables?
Its a corsair RM850i but i'm only using 1 cable with two 8 pin plugs , i will have to try two seperate cables .
strange thing is that it will run timespy stress test but not benchmark

I’m sure this has been talked about already but someone on here might be able to shed a bit more light.

I currently have a 6900XT hooked up on a cablemod vertical riser kit.
GPU-Z shows the GPU running @ 16x PcI-E 3.0. Obliviously before the riser was fitted it ran/showed as PcIE-4.0.

Will I notice any performance drop?.. or is it worth investing in the linkup 4.0 riser cable, (Which is £75) eeek!.

I’ve heard that most cards don’t yet saturate PCI-E 3.0 speeds. But what about infinity cache, Sam and other the other bells and whistles these new cards have, specifically the new 6000 series.

Thanks.

I had a Gigabyte 6900XT briefly then returned to another etailer as I couldn't see any perfomance jump from my Sapphire Nitro 6800XT.

I got Timespy Graphics scores of only 18600 on the 6900XT overclocked, versus 19500! on the 6800XT overclocked

The CPU I am using is only R5 3600 and a B550 ROG Mobo with 3600mhz RAM

Just wasn't worth it for me and couldn't justify a £500 price premium over the 6800XT Nitro.

I believe it has been known for a while now that 6800xt and 6900xt are bottlenecked by anything lower than 5000 series

@andyr

How long is the riser you purchased?.
Is it the right angle version?

Can only find a 100cm one on the rainforest.

I got a very weird bug that's started since installing my 6900XT. I cannot get into the bios of my Crosshair 6 Hero now without clearing the CMOS every time i want to. Very odd and hopefully totally unrelated and just a coincidence.

Try disabling compatibility support module (CSM) under the Boot menu in the BIOS.

AMD Reference 6900XT arrived yesterday. Very happy. I'll be replacing my 3900X with a 5900X/5950X as soon as I can find one for sale that isn't scalp central.

Pics for hall of fame entry

3DMark Scores so far...

Timespy - 17925 with a GFX score of 19.4k. Not bad for a reference card, I think theres more in there but will be waiting till I get my new CPU and start tinkering with everything else properly...

Nice, you managed to get from AMD directly?

What is your default core clock as shown in Radeon Software > Gpu Tuning ?

This is the one I have ordered.
Is there much slack cable left over on a 30cm cable?..

(Sorry to drag things off topic)
