I've got all the parts ready for my new PC and I just need to choose a case now.

I'm after something simple, so no RGB required, and have got the list down to either the be quiet! Pure Base 500 or the Corsair Carbide 275Q Silent.

One review I've seen of the Pure Base 500 says that is doesn't have particularly good airflow and some images of a populated Corsair suggest cable routing might be less than helpful for airflow.

I will be adding a Ryzen 7 5800X with Alpenfohn Broken 3 cooler and a 6800XT Nitro, all of which I think will fit in both.

I'm swaying towards the be quiet! but if anyone has any pearls of wisdom about either, I'm all ears.

Many thanks.

I'm very much in a similar position to you. I am changing my case from a monstrous Corsair 900D to something more managable. Preferably a midi tower. I haven't found a single case that is simple like the two above and promises good airflow. It seems like it's window and airflow, or no window and no airflow.

My suggestion would be the non-RGB version of the Phanteks P500A (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phan...ase-tempered-glass-satin-black-ca-0ac-pt.html). Yes, it has a window, something that doesn't exactly scream simplicity. However, it does apparently have great airflow. The only exception appears to be the (unavailable?) Phanteks Enthoo 2 Pro Closed (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phan...case-closed-window-satin-black-ca-0a9-pt.html). This is a full tower case, and a bit bigger than what I really want or need.

Got the pure base being delivered today so will let you know.

I did want something a bit smaller but all seem to have issues with fitting things in

Didnt get finished till late so I literally only turned it on to check it booted up ok.
Its a nice case but I did find the space for cables between the divider the motherboard screws to and the non window side of it tight, my side panel just bulges out ever so slightly.
And I also found the sata power connection was tight where you screw the ssd to the divider if I didn't use the last connection on the cable. I have an older non modular psu so that might be why.

How much worse is the airflow in this and the 5000D compared to the airflow version?

This is a case I have considered - it looks gorgeous. Only problem is I have no NAS solution right now, and I have 4 3.5" HDDs. Seems all PCs don't far in more than two HDDs these days.

5000 will have better flow do to having the ability to field 3 fans on the motherboard tray. airflow isnt to bad , better then 500 with the solid panel, and Airflow version matches the 500dx mesh .

There is this

or the older version

801 or

I went in a different direction. I bought a Phanteks P600s. The metal side panel version. It's a clean looking case, should hold up well. Cooling performance isn't massive between 'Silent' and 'Performance' modes.

I hope the OP finds something that's clean and simple too. The P600s isn't massive - another reason why it won.
