Went from a EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 to a ASUS 3080 TUF OC just for RT, which has been fantastic so far. Nvidia have done a great job with DLSS, much to my surprise.

he must be doing some of of sub sampled upscaling - it's not a real 4k image

Yes i'm pretty sure it means i'm on 4:4:2 but i don't really know what that translates to visually/performance wise. I'm certainly running 4k and 120hz though according to the settings and my ufotest etc.

play @ 3440 x 1440p and went from a Vega64 to a 6800Xt / 3080FE (tried both, currently the 3080 is in my machine but may swap back to the wife for the 6800XT)

Both give a great uplift for me, monitor stays maxed out at 75hz and because of this, both cards only go to 75% utilization tops in most games I play (none RT).

Upgraded from a 780ti to a 6800.

I went from not being able to play games newer than 5y/o at over 30fps, to being able to play AAA titles with everything on High+ and maintain over 60fps.
same i had the gtx 760, so i was also in the same boat as u lol

Sapphire Vega 56 pulse to 3080 FE.

Sold my vega 56 on for £225 and cod BO cold war for £19 so 3080 FE cost me £416, no regrets at all especially in todays and most likely the new normal market going forward, at least for the next year or 2 unless bitcoin crashes big time......

- over double the perf.
- FAR quieter and cooler (CPU even dropped by 10 degrees)
- rtx/dlss

went from a 1660Ti to a Gigabyte RTX3070 Gaming OC, and have an extra 1Ghz on the vRAM and it's knocked my bloomin socks off! eats FS2020 at 1440p for breakfast and plays Cyberpunk very smooth indeed. Very pleased with the upgrade; hubby got a Palit GamePro 3070 the following week and is just as impressed with his.

2080Ti to 3080.
Yes

Considering some think / thought it was a ‘side grade’ they are just bitter and not happy they have a 2080Ti. My Ti was a fantastic card but the 3080 founders is another level for RTX.
Cant wait for future RTX remakes. Hopefully Half life and Max Payne fully path traced. Max Payne especially would be incredible

Is there any confirmed news on remasters for ray tracing?

Would love to see batman arkham games, portal 2, max payne 3 with RTX.

Don’t think so no. Only Quake II at the moment which i’m seeing more than 50% increase in FPS.
Apparently the implementation of path tracing on Quake II was doable because of the original engine. Might be a lot harder with other games. I’m sure I read that Half Life RTX is happening. When i’m not sure.
Unreal RTX would be mind blowing I think

Its quite a hit on FPS. Quake II for example is something like 2600fps in Open GL.
60fps in RTX

Well I went from an old PC with a 1080GTX to a new pc with a Gigabyte 3080 OC Gamers card .
I'm a massive gamer so yes I'm enjoying how my games now run on the new set up,
The two that really stand out so far are AC Valhalla that ran jerky on we say good settings and
now it runs as smooth as butter with ultra.
But the one that is really the jaw dropping game is the one that utilises Raytracing Watchdogs Legion,
it is stunning now and how CP2077 get's plaudits for it's graphics is beyond me as Watchdogs in my honest opinion
is far sexier.
I shall probably start Control soon.

As a footnote the temps on my GPU and PC itself never go above 60 and 50ish.
It's a smoked glass that has so much space in it, the airflow must be outstanding.
My old pc was 82c limit every time I played

Forgot to add the FPS

I lock AC valhalla to 60 as I hate the tearing that occurs without vsync. I am gaming at 1440
Watchdogs I have everything up to ULTRA even the textures pack and I get 46-60 but mostly 55-60.
Runs smoothly with no jerkings.

I remember Unreal 1.
Matrix Mystique 220 it ran 640 x 480 at about 10-15 fps.
Voodoo 2 upgrade ran hardware acceleration with all the fancy graphics in 800 x 600 at 30-40fps. Mesmerising

2080ti to 3080. Not huge gains in terms of max fps but the minimums of the 3080 are where the 2080ti avergae was, which is great news for VR.

Plus it's an FE which looks (and feels) as sexy as hell, the 2080ti went to mate for £300 so he is very pleased too.

Over last 2 years I knew it was time for a big upgrade, it went:
670 > 1070 > 1440p monitor > 5700 XT > 3070
Each jump was noticeable :) Hitman frame rate was ok on my older i5 and 1070 but it felt laggy coz not enough cores I think, feels smooth on a 3600.
