Managed to buy a Palit Dual 3060 Ti:

I had a 5700 XT before. The 3060 Ti is quiet and performance is pretty good so a reasonable upgrade that cost me nothing. I really like the honeycomb backplate as it allow air to freely flow through and out the card.

Has anyone else being playing with the settings in Afterburner?
All I've done is use the experimental GeForce Auto-OC.

I'm hoping some 3060 Ti FE owners can post their Afterburner settings so I can copy and see if there's an improvement on the Heaven Benchmark.

Hey all, I'm trying to install my 3060ti (Asus Dual OC) into my 'legacy' PC, but I have a problem.

I see the POST, but then no further activity. No boot, doesn't respond to button presses to get into bios.

I've tried both GPU bios switches (P and Q), I have plugged aux power (and so no red light on GPU), GPU fans spin and RGB lights up. A 600W BeQuiiet PSU. My worry is I have a HW incompatability.

Its an Intel Sandy Bridge I7-2700k on Z68AP-D3. I've tried reseating, and swapping in my old GPU (fine).

IS there anything obvious what's up here?

14Gb eh, that'll be more useful, bet it comes in higher than a 3070 though cost wise...
I was tweaking my 3060Ti last night and I'm getting pretty close to that 8Gb RAM mark in Warzone..

I believe the 30 series are PCI-E 4.0 and 3.0 compatible. Not sure about PCI-E 2.0, which is what Sandybridge is.

Thanks for the replies. I had annoying advice from ASUS support that my PSU <recommended wattage (600W in once, 520W in my backup Q600 system). I didn't think this was the issue, and paying for a new 750W PSU to confirm it was annoying. ASUS have asked me to arrange replacement with the vendor. They have mentioned no compatibility issues wit the rest of my system. I'll continue to report here if a replacement sorts it, or if if the vendor tell me it works in their testing.

I followed the story, and spotted that 14Gb is a reference to the RAM speed, not the capacity. They are still 8Gb cards.

I believe the 30 series are PCI-E 4.0 and 3.0 compatible. Not sure about PCI-E 2.0, which is what Sandybridge is.

PCIe is backwards compatible so it should always work, but just to confirm I ran a 3090 in a Sandybridge system for a short period while awaiting a CPU and it ran completely fine on PCIe 2.0 (P8Z68 pro-V motherboard) so there are no inherent compatibility issues between the 30 series and PCIe 2.0 at least.

I'd suspect a BIOS compatibility issues rather than a faulty card.
My Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 had UEFI Bios releases in 2014 and 2017, last update on your board was 2012 for the v1.0 PCB and 2013 (UEFI) for the v2.0 PCB.

Sandy Bridge is PCI-E 2.0 but as it is x16 should be adequate and wouldn't stop it booting.

If nothing else I would make sure latest BIOS installed.
Card in the slot next to the CPU
Nothing in the other x16 slot
Remove any HDD/SSD, clear the BIOS and see if you get any kind of display output.
Check display hasn't defaulted to the motherboard HDMI (if present)

Good luck.

It's their new design, the middle fan spins in the opposite direction to improve airflow.
That's not what I mean.

Those look like static pressure fans but the arrows show all three spinning backwards inefficiently sucking the air out of the GPU

Replaces an RX 480 and gives a major improvement in what I have tested so far:

Fire Strike
  • RX 480 : 10829
  • RTX 3060 Ti : 21672 [+100.13%]

Time Spy
  • RX 480 : 3935
  • RTX 3060 Ti : 10027 [+154.82%]

Port Royale
  • RX 480 : 0
  • RTX 3060 Ti : 6908 [+inf%]

Borderlands 3
  • RX 480 : 74.91 fps (Low)
  • RTX 3060 Ti : 180.86 fps (Low) [+141.44%] / 77.71 fps (Badass)

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
  • RX 480 : 37 fps (High)
  • RTX 3060 Ti : 68 fps (Ultra High)

Biggest improvement is the much, much quieter noise level when the fans are on. My PC no longer sounds like a jet taking off!

A little play around with undervolting, as I hear that's a thing on the 30xx series cards, and then enjoy some gaming

My EVGA FTW3 Ultra Gaming arrived on Wednesday. I have not had the time to install it yet, but I'm betting that it's a decent upgrade over my GTX 760! :D

I'm glad to report the card works perfectly once paired with a modern system. Same psu and peripherals, but upgraded to Ryzen 3600 and x570 mag tomahawk.

No idea what was up with my q6600 and i7 2700.
