I'm currently rocking my Dali Concept 6 floor standers that I bought circa 2004! For years they were powered by my Marantz PM7200 stereo amp. I love them.

When I first moved in, I very quickly put up a cheap projector screen and built a pelmet around it. The idea was to sort something more permanent (and less plain) a year or two after we've moved in to allow for snags to be sorted before really decorating etc. Just so happens that I waited 4 years.. oh well :D

Last year I did a bit of work to make the living room a bit more interesting instead of a plain wall. The only things I bought were the Marantz amp and fireplace really, I went speaker shopping but never committed.
Literally the only thing I paid someone to do was plaster the chimney breast, so pretty pleased with myself, even if it was a simple enough build.

A few more pics in here https://photos.app.goo.gl/LTTnBe8LNqSCbM598 but some below:

Last pic highlights that it's dying for a centre speaker and for the TV to be wall mounted above it!

Following on from this...

Covid ruined real chances to go out and listen to replacement speakers, but the few shops I did visit actually really let me down in terms of customer service and just letting me listen to some systems. One put me on the shop floor then told me to not turn it up too much.. ok m9.

So eBay to the rescue - I decided to find look for Dali's of similar vintage to mine in attempt to get a matching centre speaker as a minimum. Well I haven't quite succeeded but I found a set of Dali Ikon MK1 speakers (centre + LR) from a guy doing an upgrade.

The centre is a little bit smaller than I had realised, and is a slightly different grey finish on the front. But thwe wood finishes match, so it still looks decent and sounds really good too.

The bookshelf speakers will find their way into my office and be powered by a Sonos amp but I gave them a chance via the Marantz in the living room for two films and I was pleasantly surprised at the bass response and general sound quality. So much so that it had me rethinking floor standers in my living room... until I wanted more volume and the audio became a little bit more complex, then I remembered I'm very much a floor stander kinda guy ;) :D

Anyway today I spent this afternoon routing some cabling (including running a couple of cable pullers so I can run a new HDMI to my projector to support 4K HDR at some point), mounting the TV on the wall and having a general tidy of my kit into a corner unit I got for free from a neighbour.

Aside from the centre looking a bit small, I'm really happy with how it looks now. Rears and Atmos next on the list, and if a larger centre comes up that matches - even better !

Thanks for looking :)

At the beginning of the year I treated myself to a LG GX 65 inch OLED after owning a 55 inch Samsung ES8000 for many years. The picture upgrade is unbelievable, and the tv is just less than 20mm thick so it looks like a painting on the wall.
I already had all the other kit so I drew up and made myself the AV unit from sawn up scaffold boards and stained it to match the speakers.
Unfortunately I’m not able to run cables through the wall but I’m happy with the outcome of this! The speakers are for hifi use only, maybe one day I’ll get a soundbar for the tv.

tv unit looks great :)

why not buy a DAC and run the telly into your speakers? They will mop the floor with TV speakers and most sound bars

My Samsung 55" Q7F was faulty so finally managed to get RS to accept to replace it. However their replacement didn't have the external box which i wanted so took the opportunity to pay extra and get the Q95T and then go one step further and move to to a 65" model.

It's funny as when watching it you can really notice the size difference, but when stood in the room looking at it, it doesn't seem much different.

I don't mind the small cable showing.

Also standard caveat that the tv is level and it's the floor which isn't so the tv unit is uneven :)
