Like you said the advertised read speed is 7000 and this is what it gets when reading reviews online, I suppose 6500 isn't too bad, but could be better.

It's one of the gen 4 drives that I will be using so thanks again for the benchmarks.

The speed are depends on how much storage you have left on the SSD. If you run the benchmark with just fresh Windows installation and drivers, nothing more you will probably get very close results to the advertised speeds.

did the benchmark on my 2xWD SN850 1TB

Slot 1
9% full
Read: 6972 Write: 5156.22

Slot 2
36% Full
Read 6232.65 Write: 3232.85

Benchmarked slot 2 WD SN850 few times with same result. No idea why write speed is way lower than slot 1. But those r the results.

Thanks for posting the results. Like you say it's odd that the second slot performs worse seems to confirm the reports I have been reading.

Yet on the previous page another user showed better results on the second slot.

My SN850 in slot 2 scores very similar to yours:

Slot 2
28% Full

Just a quick post from me to to advise that even though I previously reported being able to boot into Windows with 4000MHz RAM and 2000MHz FCLK and a quick and rough CPU overclock, I was getting some audio ‘pops’ in games and music.

Localised it to the RAM by putting CPU back to standard (pops still there), removed RAM OC and problem went away.

Need to find some time to properly play around!

Can't recall where I read it, but a possible explanation is that M.2_1 goes through the CPU and M.2_2 goes through the X570 chipset which has to share it's bandwidth with other connected devices.

I should have a pair of 980 Pro's within the next week or two, so be interesting to see how they stack up to other results here.

Is it worth just getting the normal hero at this point since the stock situation for the dark hero is looking bleak for the foreseeable future?

I currently have two 970 Evo Plus's which will soon be replaced with 980 Pros.

970 1TB; Read, 3575. Write, 3101. IOPS R; 358154. IOPS W; 288818.
970 2TB; Read, 3291. Write, 2682. IOPS R; 381103. IOPS W; 320800.

Previously I had the standard Hero board, the speeds are within a margin of error with each other. I tried with and without the NVMe drivers installed and scores remind pretty much the same.

Installed my two new 980 Pro's, results are;

980 Pro 1TB; Read, 7122. Write, 5173. IOPS R; 359375. IOPS W; 286132.
980 Pro 2TB; Read, 6578. Write, 5174. IOPS R; 375244. IOPS W; 312988.

When gaming I see my my NVMe drives get up to 55/60c, I know this is well with spec, but curious what others are seeing with their drives?
Max reported by HWiNFO64 since I last started it is 49°C for the Adata SX8200 in slot 1, and 47/61°C (two temp. sensors) for the Samsung 960 Pro in slot 2. I've seen quite a large range of temperatures reported by others around the internet, probably dependent on airflow from the GPU and case fans.
