Hi all,

Looking for a TV having never bought one before, we want a 58 to 65 inch at a budget of £600. What is out there?

Looking on websites there seems to be LOADS of choices with contradicting reviews. Appreciate any help.

Costco are doing the 65 inch ambilight 7354 for £599 atm delivered with a 5 year warranty

cracking deal
Cheers for this, I think I will pick one up as I am in the market for the exact same requirements.
I'm no expert but if you get a brand 65 inch for 600 quid it won't be very good (in terms of features).
What would be missing?

At what point do you go past the extra money actually making a difference?

HDR performance for one, does it have local dimming?
In all honesty, never heard of that hah. Fair enough though, I am a very casual watcher, I currently use a 40" £200 4k tv and whilst im sure I could side by side tell the difference I don't have the money for one. Will likely go for that ambilight deal, seems solid enough.

Bit limited for price, but I'd say go for the below at £599:

Hisense 65AE7400FTUK

Just make sure it's the 7400 and not the 7000 version so you get both dolby vision and hdr10

Are you a gamer?

If so, unless you absolutely require a TV now, I would hang on for the 2021 range, Hisense have announced they will ship with HDMI 2.1 which gives you Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode and eArc.
I won’t be on this TV, this is for the living room so just Plex, Netflix, Disney+. To be fair I can hold on but I need one in about a month....cheers

At your budget the best TV is a Samsung TU8000

The 50 inch is £549 from John Lewis.

You could spend a tiny bit more for the 55 or 65 inch models.

Hisense are terrible for processing especially colour. Their panels look like they are 6 bit.

£479 from Amazon for the 50, or £538 for the 55.

Philips 65PUS7354/12 - 599
Samsung 65" TU8000 - 699
Hisense 65AE7400FTUK - 599

Those are the 3 I have been looking at, to be fair 65" might be too big but if I can nail down the model then I can change the size once I am in the place!

Definitely the TU8000

Phillips is gimmicky RGB. Hisense has terrible colour processing.

There's only 4 TV's worth buying from the 2020 range

TU8000
Q80T
Sony XH90
LG OLED's

All other TV's are either too expensive compared to the above for the benefits or not good enough and spending a bit more gets you one of the above.

You would be mad to buy any TV other than one of the above.

The TU8000 is the cheapest and suits budgets like yourself.

The Sony XH90 and Q80T are mid to high range sets which obviously command more money but they are brilliant all rounders and still offer good value for money for bigger budgets.

Money no object then the smart choice is an oled from LG.

Hisense is fine mate, parents have one and solid for that price range.

If you drop down to 55" let me know and we can change to something else. I'd personally recommend this myself as will get much better spec and more brand options.

If I go down to 55" what would I be looking at. Honestly I'd rather stay around £500-600 max. Cheers

As already mentioned would have to be the 55" Samsung TU8000 can grab this for £549 now.

Otherwise if you hate Samsung's, then you can nab a Sony Bravia KD55XH8096BU for £649 now, but means adjusting your budget a bit more.
