So did anyone actually get a 3060?

They were all snapped up again 2mins into sell time, and you can't mine with them so all those bs mining conspiracy theories can go out the door.

massively overpriced crap...£400-£500 for a 2060s basically - insane.

eth miners cant use it anyway or rather it is crippled.

This ^ all over. To think miners are the only issue is a perfect scapegoat for nvidia/retailers. You have money men + gangsters controlling the scene with bots buying them up to sell on for doing nothing. I checked out the regular etailer to see if I could view a 3060 to 'buy' and there were no buy buttons as usual so they must have flew out in seconds not minutes - the site tweeted out there wasnt many units to sell which was laughable.

I think scalpers are more to blame than miners tbh and low supply ...

Dunno about that, been quite a few pics over the last while of mining setups with dozens of the same brand 30 series gpu. Obviously other factors are involved like gddr6x yields allegedly being low but it doesn't help matters when miners are somehow able to acquire loads of the same gpu when everyone else is lucky to get 1.

Doesnt take away from the fact that 3060 is a garbage SKU from the 30 series. The only thing got going for it is the 12GB vram which may future proof it a bit better with the more complex shader packs.

it is completely in the opposite direction of all the 30 series cards in term of performance.

3060ti is just above 2080s
3070 is like 2080ti level
3080 is a generation jump against 2080ti

this card should be like 2070s or better

I expect 3050 or something like that with 6GB vram to be like 2060s performance but at £200 MSRP mark.

I don’t know which review site you are in reference to but kitguru has done a fairly thorough review.

3060 is slower than 2070s. It’s performance is on par with 2060s and 5700XT. It is not 50% faster than 2060. At best 10% average. Very underwhelming tbh especially considering it’s current pricing.

Guru3d review shows 1080p performance approx 30-50% more than 2060S across the board.
Slightly less gap at 1440p but still ~35% or so more

It performs more like a 3050ti than a 3060. The gap between the 3060ti and 3060 is too big

Nvidia is selling bottom of the barrel GA106 GPUs in the RTX3060. The laptop RTX3060 has the full complement of shaders, but the desktop model is cut down.

Months later....in other news Nvidia has record Q1 2022 revenue, driven by impressive gains in gaming revenue and record margins. "Gamers just love Ampere" JHH enthusiastically says, whilst showing off his new gold plated kitchen and gold studded leather jacket to journalists.

Both companies have figured that if you completely stagnate the mid-range, a lot of people will just jump up to a higher SKU in the range to get their upgrade fix.

Hence the mid-range barely moving in years and years. And when it does move a little, the price shoots up. So now we have £500+ x60 Tis and £400+ x60s. Ignoring the fake-as-hell RRPs which AIBs can't realistically sell at.

The £200 price range has basically ceased to exist..

Don't worry all the AMD/Nvidia supporters will go on how its all about XYZ price increases, miners, coronavirus,Martians, etc and how its all according to plan. It was the same excuses when Nvidia made £1000 GPUs a thing nearly a decade ago. But despite all these "cost increases" these poor charities, have to put up with,it seems every quarter is another record one WRT to revenue, margins, etc. Dell,Sony,MS,etc,ie,all the large companies seem to have no problem paying lower prices than us for all these "hard to get" parts. Shame it seems the consumer has to keep reducing their margins. Let every company follow the Apple model, and most people won't get paid decently whilst paying through the nose for everything. All the money goes poof somewhere(perhaps some nice warm tax haven).

Edit!!

The future of gaming for us plebs is now consoles, tablets, phones,an abacus, etc. Gaming PCs according to the accountants who now run things are for the rich and whales. The same accountants who increasingly ruin PC games with all those cheap microtransactions.

Its not miners or scalpers. When retailers receive a total of 100-200 cards its just low supply issue. If each retailer received 1 million plus units then it be a different story.

I have just gone through all their bench with the MSI Gaming X Trio.

no chart does it suggest a 50% lead over 2060, let alone 2060s. Most of the games other than a handful the 3060 is within a few frame to the 2060s. A handful of games are 20% over 2060 but most are 10% or less.

But isn't part of that because millions of chips are being diverted to large mining operations before they even enter the supply chain?

There's another site selling a 3060 for £520, they have in the listing that it was previously priced at a grand so you're saving money.

The demand isn't even real.
The fact they're being sold now on eBay for profit doesn't constitute a supply or demand issue, it's a capitalism issue.

People are buying the cards to literally sell for profit.
