It's contrasting watching a UK police chase vs a US one. The immediate noticeable difference in the UK when the police get out is to charge straight for the driver/passengers. In the US the guns are drawn immediately. I do get that it's done for their own protection as the driver or passenger could armed. It's just very contrasting.
Weird one going on now as well - following a van which seems to have its own fan club - people on the side of the road waving when it goes past, 4-5 cars which aren't law enforcement following as well - at one point stopping to give the van driver what looked like food.

They tend to throw the book at them never mind the dragging them from the car, maybe setting a dog on them and if they are unlucky shooting them probably puts all but the complete nutters off.
