Office Chair vs. Gaming Chair

The Steelcase Leap v2 is my perfect chair, but the fact the headrest is so bad kills it for me. The main + about the Leap beyond the comfort is just how back it can recline, which is great for gaming.

How does the Orangebox Do fare in this regard? The headrest looks better, for a start.

Cant really comment on the headrest, none of our Orangebox chairs has one. We do have some "Senator" (cant remember what model) with them that I had a go on. I personally found the headrest not that really useful. For work as in typing/writing/information input you tend to lean a little bit forward to keep your forearms on the desk. But again its just how I tend to sit, I am always trying to keep my back straight (when I remember) :]

Yeah, I want a chair with a headrest that stays out of the way when I'm upright and typing, but can sink back into when I'm reclining for gaming or whatever. I once used a Gesture without a headrest for that purpose, and you really begin to miss it.

Seems like a pretty hard thing to get!

2ndhand just emailed me to say that the Orangebox Do that I've ordered is more damaged than they expected. Shame - time to look at an alternate option.

Do you think I would have asked here if I completely understood them? Do they honour free returns and can you try the chair?

I bought an OrangeBox Flo from 2ndHnd and had to return it within the 14 day window. Was smooth and they arranged everything. I had already tossed the box so had to completely bubble wrap it at my own cost - which I wasn't fussed about.

I took my Mirra 2 back to the place I got it from, lucky they're local. They let me try a bunch of different chairs, which was nice. I tried, amongst others, a OB Do (needed reupholstering so I couldn't take it home, and it only had 2D arms) It was 100% better than the Mirra.

Didn't have a G64 sadly...

I'm 6 foot tall and the guy, who knew his stuff, said that due to my long legs a 'German' foam seat was my best bet and not a mesh job. So I'm going to hold out for a Do with fully adjust able arms. They are going to keep an eye out for me.

If they had a Do with 3 or 4D arms I'd have taken it home there and then. It was super comfortable. :)

Thanks for the great information. At least there is some helpful posters here.

I will look at buying a chair from them.

They were helpful. Corporate Spec have good customer service too. The product though, in my experience, not quite "as new" as they advertise it.

I wouldn't have expected so considering the drastic price difference between new and what they sell for. I don't mind paying more to be honest, but I'm not sure I want to pay the new prices. But perhaps I won't have an option if I want something of decent quality.

I agree. I can imagine a new version of my chair will be different to the refurb I bought. I strongly believe that the product should be advertised as what it is, which is a half-decent refurb, not along the lines of "highly refurbished - like new".

Prices have gone up quite a bit since I bought mine, and stock has plummeted. Can't find a decent chair with a headrest elsewhere for the price I paid so I will have to stick with what I have for now.

It is any help. I bought a Haworth Zody from Corporate Spec about a month ago - Decent company to deal with.
I had an issue with my chair (lumber support was broken), they sorted it out quickly, sending out a new chair within a week. Really happy with the replacement.

Yeah their customer service can't be faulted, nor the speed at which they resolve issues.

I spent ages looking at chairs about 3 months ago. I wanted one with a higher height than some, I'm only 5'11" but found my old chair was too low. Looked at gaming chairs, but big majority of then were REALLY low. Looked on amazon, ebay, wayfair and a few office places. I was limited, being in N.I. a lot of places either dont' ship at all or charge big shipping fees, and then what happens if it needs to go back ? Others specialising in office furniture were "contact us for delivery charge" which is never a good thing.

And then of course buying blind a £300-£400 chair without sitting it in.

I reckon I looked at about 4-500 chairs online.

Strangely I ended up buying a "gaming" chair from wayfair, It went higher than most, and had reasonable reviews. @£120 and free delivery, I thought it was worth a shot. Certainly at that price it has proved value for money. good height adjust. I wouldn't want to sit in it for more than 3 hrs. Initially it feels comfy, but after a good while you feel it in the ass. Couple of things. Came with a basic "lumbar support" a cushion on elastics that could be moved up and down. I had to cut it out, as no matter where I put it, it wasn't comfortable. Also, although it appeared to be straight up, the headrest isn't to my liking as you need to lean way back before your head is actually rested.

But like I say, for the price, with free delivery, it was very much value. I see its now £170, so maybe they decided it was underpriced.

Dimiss the "manufactured wood" bit, all the bits are metal as far as I could figure.

a household furniture and soft furnishings company is a competitor it appears, even though they don't sell any chairs that overclockers does.

Well yeah, they sell gaming chairs like OCUK do so are a competitor. It's not just the specific models they sell that matter, but anything that could lose OCUK a sale of their own goods.

That is the price we pay for enjoying this forum, so suck it up and don't take it personally. :)
