Most people don't want to be messing around with repairs and MOT work every year though. At 7k I can totally see the appeal, although I wouldn't have one myself.
To be fair to Acme, i do share his sentiment on this. £7k picks up a perfectly nice car from most marques, which even without being silly with an old BMW/Mercedes, buys into very sensible Fords and cars like this.

Welcome to the "Brilliant yet poor sales performance" car club.

Best colour for the Alpine by far.

Thanks. I still think the reason they sell so few is the buying experience rather than the product itself. I completely understand why people would be put off by going to a normal renault/dacia dealership, it is just not the same as the porsche experience/showrooms.

You weren't in Herts yesterday were you? :D Really love these. You'll get 33% window gazers wondering what car it is, 33% admiring what it is, and 33% expecting it to be James May driving.

No, I am up north. Someone completely missed the lights changing to green in the opposite direction when I went passed yesterday, certainly gets people interested.

Nice! I absolutely love the look of these. How’re you finding it so far?

Not many miles in but really enjoying it. It is my first "proper" sports car, came from an M2 Competition and this feels much more special/an event to drive even slowly.

Is that central exhaust stock?

Yep on 2.0 Turbo engines it is (most mk3 Megane have the 1.2-1.6 engines there are very few with 2.0 spec like mine). Exact same exhaust system & engine type as the RS MK3 (RS has slightly larger intercooler & turbo boost is 0.2 bar higher). The other exhaust option for 2.0 is invisible you cannot even see it the tailpipe ends before the bumper & vents down slightly. The 2014 mk4 facelift removed the 2.0 engine option. Then in 2017 they came with yet another system which was changed again 2017-present. You can buy several different aftermarket skirts which cover & integrate the exhaust into the rear differently but most just leave it as is!

Where it counts to me is useable engine power wise it has 300 N.m (only 60 less than the RS 275!). With a simple remap its possible to gain 40 BHP & an air filter upgrade adds another 5-7 BHP. If you want to make some serious noise & attract a lot of attention then a turbo BOV on top of that will achieve this :p;)

I wish people would elaborate instead of these Yes/No answers

I meant it more in relation to his Lexus, although I’d still rather his Lexus any day. I accept I’m in the minority though :p

I know, it's only a few years old but it is (in Romanian terms) fully loaded, satnav/parking sensors/rubbish aircon etc. It'll probably last me until I'm no longer fit to drive. Reviews were correct, it's the ideal car for someone who's not interested in cars.

That said, all the cars I'm looking at back in this thread are lovely, especially the old Corvette.
As the fiancée of a Romanian, I am legally obliged to congratulate you on buying a Dacia. Myself (and being serious here) I want to buy and restore a 1300 one day.

Time to turn up the volume, booked in for next week:

Also found a local garage that races classics cars and knows carburettors very well and they are happy to help me with anything I don’t want to attempt myself, even better they are only like two minutes away and JP Exhaust has moved to Congleton now so also nice and local.

Been an awfully long time since I've logged on here.... but.....

Had this for a year and a half now. Can't say I love the wheels being black but not been bothered to change them. The exhaust is stupidly loud despite having the bung in one of the pipes... but again, not been bothered to change it.

Done an embarrassingly small amount of miles due to a long holiday and then the joys of lockdown.

Miss my zed dearly :(. its a lot of car for very little money.

you wouldn't happen to be in Beckton tesco car park by any chance ?

Paid 5k for mine - full service history with specialist dealers. Can't fault it for the price.

And yes! One of the few places I get to drive these days.

IMHO a louder engine is usually a better one.

Why it needs a louder exhaust the engine over powers the current turbo mufflers and well I wanna hear it with straight pipes should hopefully have that classic American cam sound to it. Then if I ever want more engine noise can always fit an edelbrook performer intake.

One thing I do appreciate about my Jag is the sound; there aren’t enough manufacturers that prioritise it out of the box.

But a 78-79 corvette truly deserves to be heard. I mean... so long as you’re not my neighbour.
