Audi warranty denial....

I’d put it into the CEO office in Milton Keynes (I think that’s where it is) using soft words involving disappointment with the brand, disillusion that will stop you buying you next Audi this year etc. Needs elevation now (forgive me if you have done this, Ive skim read). I did this when I was getting crap service from Audi dealers and got all my issues addressed on my R8 few years back.

Inclined to agree. Doesn’t exactly give much confidence in the brand.

Shortly after this warning it changed from amber to red and told me to stop the car. I did this when safe to do so and noticed all sorts of warning lights were coming on the dash. I turned it off and then thought maybe it would reset itself so I could continue driving.

after re-reading first post, symptoms don't seem unlike what the bmw driver reported when the immobiliser cuts in, so, with hind-sight, do wonder if ghost could give false/misleading diagnostics, persistantly to audi, unless it is really switched off/disabled in transport mode.

I noted the time when I hit 30mph, and did a bit of mixed driving, and regularly dropped below 30 (in theory resetting the timer). 15 mins after initially exceeding 30, I got all sorts of warnings going off. My iDrive screen flashed up with something about the protection system being disabled. I had a similar message in the dash, and the internal gong was banging away. It certainly made its presence known. I had to press the iDrive controller to acknowledge the warning, but the gong was still going off. Pressing the traction control button shut the gong down, but it may stop itself after a timeout period. I can imagine the dealer being thoroughly impressed with this

How do they not know what exactly is wrong with the car.
Doesn't the car industry have root cause analysis, at our place we can't just say we've fixed something without finding out what is wrong first and at least attempting to work out why it went wrong.

Yes I think you have a point. Car alarms have been fitted for years to vehicles to stop them being stolen, how can this be seen as being a negative?

I've had people in this thread calling me an idiot for wanting to protect something that I 'own' with an immobiliser. Saying I should happily use my insurance if it were to be stolen. Why should I bare the additional cost of a stolen car and all that goes with it if I can avoid it? Only someone that has not experienced car theft can say something as callous as that...

Autowatch have been notified and I have included the main dealers report with the email. I am awaiting a response which should hopefully be with me in the coming days.

I use a disk lock on my cars that could be an option.

Its a black edition as well.... Trust me this car would have no problem disappearing and my little town has had its own spate of car thefts over the years. For my M5 they came into the house for the keys but didn't come upstairs. The guys that came for that knew exactly what they were doing as well to defeat the door lock on the house, etc. Following that episode I got a house alarm, cameras, etc, etc....

how much did you pay for the house alarm and cctv system? I had a car broken into but luckily it wasn’t taken just broken glass perhaps they got disturbed.

It probably cost me £1000. had a 3 camera system. Since then I've found the beauty of Ring products and now have a ring floodlight camera for the back garden and a ring doorbell to complement my existing setup. I cannot recommend Ring products enough, very straight forward to install, the app is easy to use and the cameras are reliable.

It sounds to me like there has been a fault with either the Ghost system or the Battery causing the original fault and breakdown then the recovery has jumped the car and blown a load of fuses throwing all sorts of issues up.

Did they jump the car at any time without you being there? I've seen a car jumped with cross polatiry before and it popped a load of random fuses and the main fuse but that was a 54 plate and didn't have all the crazy electronics your Q7 will have.

Have Audi done any work on the car or just fault find?

The repair may not be as costly as thought, but main dealers will just chuck the worse case scenario out there and claim it on warranty normally (which they were in the process of doing by the looks)

May need fuses replaced and faults cleared sorting most of it but there is the issue of the original breakdown.

I would ask the Dealer if they would mind putting it in writing in their expert opinion that the ghost caused the issue. Tell them you'll need that in court to prove why they wont fix it.... When they refuse. Because they wont want to get sued, I would then suggest if they aren't prepared to put their money where their mouth is, then a repair would suffice

I do find the whole warranty debate comes down to the relationship you have with your dealer and ideally the service manager. Get a good one, take time to get to know them and they will typically go into bat for you against manufacturer and / or warranty provider. I never hid the fact I took some of my previous cars on track and it never ‘got in the way’ of any warranty claim. I never had an issue servicing the car (more than needed) in private specialists and still getting my OPC / Audi dealer to warranty work.

Then you can get the arse who found a picture of you car in a garage near a race track tying to be clever. All about the people.

I had the car recovered out of the dealers yesterday.

The vehicle now starts and runs under its own power. They removed the steering rack that they fitted and replaced it with my original (none working rack) so that saved the whole argument that was going to come with that and them saying I needed to pay for it.

I have tracked down a few reasonably priced racks sub £300 so its not going to cost me anything like the £2000 Audi were quoting me for the rack that they fitted.... Just need to confirm the part number fitted to the vehicle before I go ahead with this.

I have found a few fuses blown which have been replaced and have now enabled those systems to function again. I believe with the rack replaced many of the other issues are going to be minor. At the end of the day it starts and drives so how bad can it be....
