do they pay there staff well? as long as they look after there staff, and don't just pay minimum wage I've no issues with it. If there profits are that high and the pay doesn't reflect that then i think its really rubbing the noises of the people who are making it possible.

At a complete guess, i would probably say Bet365 are paying more in tax per £ earned than the likes of Amazon/Starbucks etc.
Her salary is only driven by anyone who uses bet365, so if you're completely disgusted in the amount she gets paid, then boycott the firm.
I've never used bet365, so if every customer was like me, bet365 would go bankrupt in a few weeks and she'd be out of a job.
There was also quite an important part of that article i felt, saying that they continued to pay all staff during the pandemic, and didn't need to use the furlough scheme.

people are miffed because there are schemes and loopholes available that are not available to the average PAYE pleb like you and me.
Seems to me she actually pays her way in taxes. The problem is people and companies who have this personal wealth but shield it from the authorities.

Coming from Stoke I know several and all have nice homes/cars etc and plenty of money to throw around.
One of my half cousins is living like a millionaire in Malta.
An ex colleagues son is paid a fortune to stop hackers and he has an open account to hire anybody for any suitable wage and any hardware he needs.
If this is the case, and goes all the way to the bottom employees, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
i still think that extreme wealth should be curtailed in some way.

I Don’t particularly agree with gambling, but don’t have a problem with someone working hard building something up from nothing and reaping the rewards.
Know a few people who work for Bet365, none has a bad word to say about them as an employer at least.

Fair play to her at least she takes her wealth as pay and coughs up the tax owed. Now I might have issues with the extent of online gambling in this country but whilst it's legal to the extent it is hats off to someone who doesn't hide their wealth and pays their tax. I imagine all the "heroes" in the Premier League do exactly the same.

My mates worked there for over a decade, starting as an internal IT help desk type with no formal IT certs just some self taught stuff and he's now an IT security something'or'other middle manager on £70K+ with IT certs coming out of his ear all paid for by the Company. He's also spent a year in Gibraltar and been around the world to help set-up new B365 datacentres, attend conferences etc so he's done really well.
From chatting to him about this subject last year, they do pay very well but they also expect a lot of very hard work in return which, sadly nowadays, means he has a lot of issues hiring new starters as a lot (but not all) of the "fresh from Uni with an IT degree" types who get starter IT job there tend to leave within 6 months, unable to cope with the pressure and then leave snotty Glassdoor reviews

The tax on her pay is higher then corporation tax, there is all sorts of things she could have done to save tax, but she is declaring it as it should be.
Well, one is the continuation of our country's history, something that sets us apart from wannabe 'first world' countries and the equivalent of stroppy teenagers in the global community (USA I'm looking at you), and an element of classiness that we should be proud of. Well if people are arguing for greater redistribution of wealth then that billion doesn’t disappear from the economy, it just gets divided among more people who might need it. It’s still getting spent, just instead of super yachts its groceries, services and infrastructure.
I hate gambling and think it's basically a business that targets and attempts to trap the addictive personalities who are a lot of the time the poorest members of society.

it’s moving that way with casinos. Play enough money and they ask to see proof of funding for your sustainable level of play.
I do wonder whether we'll see mass compensation schemes like the PPI scandal, and pay-day loans scandal where people will claim that they should have been stopped before ******* their life savings up the wall.
Maybe casinos are trying to get in front of that now, to avoid any future claims.

She's earning the equivalent of all the other FTSE 100 bosses added together only because the other bosses earn most of their benefits in less taxable ways so good for her for being open about it and paying standard tax rates.
