How/why some of you get through so many cars is insane! Not jealous at all! :D

Been driving for 12 years.

2009-2010: 2001 Renault Clio (Parents)
2013-2016: 2010 Honda Jazz (Parents)
2016-2018: 2002 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 SXi
2018-present: 2008 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

Also 2019-2021: Yamaha YBR125

Looking to change the car this year to a MK3 TT/TTS.

Passed my test in 1996, bought my first car on the 1st anniversary of passing it -

1985 Vauxhall Nova 1.0 - 4 speed ****-box, but I loved it. Apparently it originally had white paint before it started to rust. Still have nightmares about its choke.
1991 Vauxhall Nova SR 1.4 - Brum-brum! Arse rusted out of it, surprisingly....
1996 Ford Mondeo 1.6 LX - I felt so grown-up....
1999 VW Polo 1.0 - Perfect car for someone living opposite the train station. Pretty much driven to the shops and nowhere else. The sea-air ate it alive.
1999 Rover 200 1.4 - For comfortably driving to the shop. Head-gasket killed it.
2003 Rover 25 1.4 - See above. See above.
2005 Seat Ibiza 1.2 - Cracking little 3 cylinder engine for pootling about town.
2008 Mazda MX5 NC 2.0 - Lusted after an MX5 for years before finally getting one. Pretty much everything I expected it to be. Loved it to bits. Arse rusted out of it.
2008 Toyota Avensis D4D TR 2.0 - Looks like a taxi. Drives like a taxi. Feels like driving a Sherman tank after the MX5. I still can’t park it properly.

Since 1995..

Vespa ET4 125cc
Vauxhall Astra 1.4i
Vauxhall Calibra 2.01 16v
Peugeot 406 Coupe 3.0

Moved to Australia 2006. Life and income changed significantly.
Holden Commodore VE SS 6.0 V8
HSV Clubsport LS3 6.2 V8
Audi S5
Mercedes C63 W204 Coupe

Honda CBRR250
Suzuki GSXR600
Honda CBRR1000 Fireblade
Vespa GT200
Honda CB400 (1985)

Current
Vespa GTS250
Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE
Triumph Bonneville T120 Black

Each one better than the last (car wise, not bikes - went round in a bit of a circle with them) although I did think the S5 was marginally a better car than the C63 although not as fast, as loud or as brash which is exactly why you would buy one. :D
If my RR got stolen from my drive tonight I'd buy another tomorrow. I miss the petrol V8s but don't miss filling them up every week.

At one point the insurance on an Escort Cosworth was more than the car itself (according to Top Gear at least!). I think those cars fit into the desireable-easy to nick-easy to resell category. I had a GF whose Dad had a Cavalier 4x4 and they'd be regularly trying his garage. Par for the course was only having an egg cup of petrol in the tank on the off chance!

I lived in Lincoln when the XR3’s were taken, latterly in Stoke-on-Trent so yes, most horrible area in the U.K. is quite appropriate! :D

I remember the quote for the “my” Cosworth (which turned out to be somebody else’s stolen car!) was over £3k in 1996, i only paid £4K for the car - I got around it briefly by putting it on my dads business insurance, and then found out it was a ringer, shame, it was fantastic fun but with hindsight way too cheap....

I have that problem. Nothing new really interests me all that much and soon it will all be electric, which is about as interesting as a fridge. So meh, I might just find a new hobby before 2030.

I think a lot of petrolheads will do the same and the car market will change forever. Not as many will want to splash out on expensive/exotic stuff, especially people who are growing up now.
