£700 for a Porsche warranty is an absolute bargain, also the Porsche warranty is very comprehensive and pretty much covers entire car, money well spent.

Without a doubt. After being stung to the tune of £3k on a TFSI A3, I would never run a car without it (and haven't since). I understand people have a slush fund but they soon whittle away if multiple unrelated issues occur in quick succession.

In my view it goes beyond repair work, and take into account how much easier it makes life in the event of a breakdown instead of an engine management light scenario. The fusebox went on my JCW in the middle of Cambridge. The car was recovered and taken to the dealership I requested along with a Taxi that dropped me home and a courtesy car was delivered the following day; that alone would have costed a few hundred and that's all ahead of the car being looked at.

The warranty does not cover breakdown, thats extra!

Not sure if your aware of this... They have changed the rules recently. Now for the warranty to be valid you have to have all services and all work connected to a service such as break fluid, aux drive belt and filters etc done by Porsche. So the old school idea of using a good inde to save money on all of the above has gone out the window.

e.g. Major service plus break fluid change is circa 1k at Porsche and £500 at Porsche specialist.

So its not just the cost of the warranty any more, its all the other money that you could SAVE before that you can no longer save by using an inde.

Do you still think its well worth it Gibbo? Do you usually go to Porsche for all your services and work rather than a good inde?

I thought the common rule of thumb on the forums was to use Porsche whilst in warranty and then move to a good Porsche independant to save money?
