It's just a teaser, there's no mention of a release date, but there's more to follow in July.

I can't wait myself, TDU2 was a fantastic racing game, and paved the way for the likes of Forza Horizon and The Crew. Let's hope the next one follows suit!

Isn't Forza Horizon just TDU3?

Not quite no. I enjoy playing Forza Horizons but TDU had something different about it that I preferred more. I can't quite say what right now but it might have something to do with the social element and the memories I have from it just driving around Hawaii in stupidly fast cars with my friends. I don't think I like the whole Forza Horizons event. TDU was just a driving life sim and it worked so well. I even miss the fact that the online play was so terrible when just trying to group up with your friends. But I think that was part of its charm.

Interesting, TDU was excellent at the time. Looking forward to some gameplay videos.

Yep, although the fact that there's a casino in that trailer makes me shudder. The casino in TDU2 was the worst thing about it and made the game an absolute mess at launch and just after. It basically ruined the second game for me. I far preferred TDU to TDU2 in the end.

The level of detail was brilliant, like being able to activate the folding roof on a convertible, opening and closing the electric windows, using the indicators etc. I loved that you had to actually drive to a dealership to purchase a car, you could see other players walking around inspecting them. The maps were huge, the casino was a fantastic idea, and I loved cruising in multiplayer.

A criminally underrated game, way before it's time!

It was indeed. For all of Forza Horizon's impressiveness on consoles now, TDU set the bar and the little things that are missing from Forza as you mentioned in your post were what made TDU so immersive. You actually had a reason to drive the roads. You could invite other players to that amazing house you bought overlooking the ocean. Your cars were on display in the garage. Even the ability to roll windows down or put the roof down, as you said, made it that little more immersive. It was a great game for the time it was released and apart from dated graphics, I don't think many games would be able to stand against it even today. It's always surprised me how it's never been remade or a new one released for last gen or next gen now. Hopefully this new one has captured the spirit of the first two. I just don't know about the "Head to head" bit in the game title. It makes it sound linear and I really hope it's open-world.

I think "Head to Head" is a reference to the challenge in TDU2 where you raced to win your opponent's car. It's safe to say it's an open world game because it still carries the "Test Drive Unlimited" moniker.

I used to like the race around the whole island(mainly on a motorbike), it started on the west coast of the island, i think i remember it paying out 1 million credits and taking about an hour. I'm not sure if that was TDU or TDU2 though.

TDU2 had a race around the perimeter of the whole island, which took about 45 minutes to complete.

Does anyone remember that if another player was being pursued by the police, you could temporarily take control of a squad car and chase them down? That was buckets of fun!

Ooh I got TDU2 vibes from that music track in the video. I think the music used in TDU2 is the best thing about the game. Some excellent tunes that I still have in my running playlist.

There was definitely such a race in TDU as I recall it quite vividly. Not sure about TDU2 as I never quite gelled with it as much as the first game (probably because I 100% the first on 360 (minus online stuff) and burnt out).

There was two - one around Ibiza for about 45 mins and then if I'm not going mad, wasn't there another around O'ahu for about 60 minutes? Those were epic. I remember gathering provisions, going to the bog, etc. in preparation. Nothing quite like it since.
