The RTX 3080 TI will mostly replace the RTX 3090...

The 2nd hand prices are insane on a certain high street store's website for the RTX 3090, if I had one, I'd be seriously temped to try to buy a RTX 3080 FE or RTX 3080 TI FE (then sell the 3090 once I had an order confirmed).

Trouble is only one FE per household- I had a 3090FE then sold it for the EVGA 3090

Nah I'd still pay the £400 odd pounds (lets put it this way anyone shopping for a Ti will have the cash to get the best) and get an extra 12gb Vram to future proof. Resale of the 3090 will be higher due to the mining capabilities I'm sure..
3080 FE costs 679 and mines ETH at 100MHs
3090 FE costs 1300+ and mines ETH at 120MHs

Yes true but who can actually buy a 3080FE?? (they're only available for a few seconds at most) PS I know several 3080FE owners and only get 85MH/S as its severely thermally throttled at decent power limit

The only options are 3070FE or 3090 FE really in most Nvidia drops as they hang around the longest to give people a chance to buy

I repadded both 3080 FE and 3090 FE (maybe I am Uber lucky )

Takes less than a hour and runs at 85C in a case after ... instead of 106C.

About your second point, the 3090 suffers even more of heat issues ... when mining ETH it’s the GDDR6X that runs hot and the 3090 has actually plenty of it ...

To run at these speeds, you need to either increase the fan speed or repad the card. The FEs don’t have a good backplate so you cannot stick adhesive fins on the backplate so much

Ampere Titan will most likely replace 3090.

3080 Ti will be the next card down.

Can't rule this out. Can only guess the Titan would be even more exclusive, low stock and have a suitably much higher price to reflect this.

Then next year, the 5nm (or 6nm?) GPUs will come out and the E-Peen will shrink once more.

My cousin is a complete IT scrub that is simply using in-built nicehash app for mining and he easily hits 100MH/S on his 3080.

People talking as if its a real card you can actually buy

No son, Nvidia may as well launch the 3888888000TIx2, its about as useful as a 3080TI, because they are all imaginary & no one can buy one anyway!!!

I need ANY graphics card to replace my on the way out 1080GTX, but I’m also absolutely dreaming, because they don’t exist now, its the end of days for any available graphics cards

I used telegram to buy my RTX 3070 FE in February. Services like this are the only way to buy one at a reasonable price (RRP) that I'm aware of. the RTX 3070 was up for about 20-30 mins, but this can vary quite a bit for each drop. I hear Nvidia is prioritizing the 3070 card over the RTX 3060 TI, as it is more profitable (rumour). Having said that, I almost finalised an order for a RTX 3060 TI for my brother, but the retailer prevents multiple FE purchases per household.

Personally, I wouldn't bother trying to get a RTX 3080 FE, as they are generally sold out in seconds.

I do not know if this can be done with AMD reference cards too, I hear the total number of 6000 series cards has been much lower than Ampere, so AMD failed in this respect, it's possible that 8nm Samsung has relatively higher production volume than the alternatives, which would explain Nvidia's choice.
