One made in China and the other in Malaysia. Is WD's warranty valid if the drive is bought without packaging etc?

It looks identical to mine in every way except for the date for the "DOM" code, serial number, and the "PSID" number (mine has a long string of 0's in it), and as far as I know mine is legit.

Looks just like the drive in a different review, as others have said above, it looks as close as can be. Would be confident to say it's a legitimate used SN850.
I've also never heard of NVME drive counter-fitting before either, as usually any drive can be sold relatively competitively.

Fairly sure you're just looking at the back of the drive, when the pictures on the WD website are of the front.
