For me, I use a VPN to spoof my country to get around YouTube blocks. However, what is the point of a VPN if you're trying to hide something and the ISP can see the VPN logs?

Not familiar with Pr0nhub, but I think as long as it's legal, then you don't need a VPN? I think ISPs / police will be more interested in people who use illegal pr0n, torrent sites, terrorist plots etc.
They can't see the VPN logs but there are enough fingerprints placed in things like Cookies, unique hardware ID, DNS.

All VPNs do is kindly aggregate all of your activity together and put it in the hands of an unregulated private company who make wonderful claims :p

And who do NordVPN give their information too.

Say for example you go to a strip club but don't want your wife to know. You go through the carwash instead and go in a back door. The Carwash still knows you are going to look at boobs and ass and tells your wife anyway.
This is why I always wash my cars myself. Don't trust those strip club car washes ever!

On top of that, NordVPN has a strict no-log policy, facilitated by being outside the US and EU jurisdictions. That means we don’t track when our users go online, to which servers they connect, which websites they visit or what files they download.

Independent auditors have confirmed our no-log VPN policy
We invited one of the Big 4 auditing firms — PricewaterhouseCoopers AG, Zurich, Switzerland — to perform an industry-first audit of our no-logging claims. The report concludes that our policy description is fair and accurate.

ISP can still tell what websites you visited even with a VPN. Y'all need bigger tinfoil hats if you want them to be totally unable to log.

No they can't ( Unless you use HMA who will just hand over records if asked ). But the larger problem is tracking. There are trackers out there who are relentlessly following you as you wander about the web and using a VPN doesn't hide you at all from the trackers. Even if you delete cookies immediately, a tracker can identify you the moment you go to a specific site. Applications you run can even load cookies on to your system, like Teamviewer, which loads on Bing.com even if you don't use your browser, it's there for when you do. It is a constant war with these companies to keep things private.
I mean if you are doing something illegal then there is no place you can hide. Even Tor is not beyond the reach of governments. But for the average person who doesn't want HMRC to know their sexual habits or medical conditions, then a VPN is a good start ( HMRC have access to your internet records ).
The issue for me is that your personal data is processed for warning flags about you as a person. There was a case recently were someone put repeated posts about Greta Thunberg on their social media and was flagged by the automated scanning systems as a potential pedophile. I mean, if that kind of thing doesn't worry you, it should.

No they can't, that is verifiably false. All the ISP sees is that you are connected to a particular VPN IP address at a particular time, the contents of that connection are securely encrypted.

They can't see the VPN logs but there are enough fingerprints placed in things like Cookies, unique hardware ID, DNS.
If something like Facebook is tracking you through cookies and browser fingerprints, your ISP doesn't have access to that. Virtual machine + Tor will bypass browser fingerprint tracking for any really private stuff.

All VPNs do is kindly aggregate all of your activity together and put it in the hands of an unregulated private company who make wonderful claims
Sorry but no, the vast majority of "no logs" VPN providers do as they say, as proven multiple times in various court cases. Maybe there are a handful of unscrupulous VPN providers, but you'd have to be a paranoid conspiracy theorist to believe that all "no logs" VPN providers secretly keep logs.

I've always been paranoid that when I've phoned my ISP that the woman sat on the other end is able to see what a dirty barsteward I am and i'm sat there kind of awkwardly tbh…
Well one time a woman did try to start up a conversation with me...lol

This doesn't make any sense, and no they cannot see what you've been browsing over the phone. There may be a record of history on file but it's tagged to your IP address not specifically "you". Nothing different to how all ISPs have operated since day 1.

The bigger issue is tracking through websites, something which plugins like uBlock Origin can stop but not everyone is aware of these browser plugins nor does everyone use a browser that supports it to begin with.

Not if you are doing DNS lookups inside the VPN tunnel as well. All they can see is encrypted traffic going to the VPN provider.

JUST LOL IF YOU'VE NEVER CALLED YOUR ISP FOR ~REASONS~ AND GOT A NERVOUS SWEAT ON BECAUSE WHEN THEY ASKED IF YOU MEANT TO GO TO THAT WEBSITE AND YOURE LIKE "NO, MAM, I DID NOT, I DON'T EVEN KISS MY MUM ON THE MOUTH LIKE THAT MAN DID TO HIS MUM" AND SHES ALL "UH HUH" AND DAMN, IT FEELS GOOD TO BE A GANGSTER.

Ironic that by your definition, you have to be a paranoid conspiracy theorist to think a private company you route all your internet traffic through may not be everything it says it is (and not just in a nefarious way, people make mistakes), yet you feel the need to use a VPN to browse the internet

Can you explain that one?

Surely if you are connected to a VPN, all your ISP can see is the connection to the VPN server?
Basically what this chap quoted below said. This isn't always the case though, and DNS leak occurs. You're most at risk of DNS leak if you use apps on Android/iPhone but I don't think Windows is bullet proof either. Best to configure the tunnel on your router to try and avoid this.

Not if you are doing DNS lookups inside the VPN tunnel as well. All they can see is encrypted traffic going to the VPN provider.

Point out where I said I felt the need to use a VPN to browse the internet? Putting words in people's mouths doesn't quite work I'm afraid. In any case, it's a known fact that your ISP logs your activity (google snoopers charter). I don't see what wanting privacy has to do with conspiracy theories, does it make you a conspiracy theorist if you close the bathroom door for privacy?

Seems like a relatively decent place to ask... have they been filming new pornos during the pandemic? I daren't google the question for internet history reasons.
