not totally true a second had car has a drop after 5-7 yrs where there is a considerable drop in price .. as there coming to end of life ..so i like to keep slightly ahead of this to grab a bargain...Owning a car for longer costs less than trading it in.
What's the point in trading in a car that still does exactly what you want it to do for something that is, at best, only a few years newer than the one you have? It's not as if you're going for a change in use or a newer, much higher quality car. I could understand if you were throwing big money after it in order to secure a decent upgrade but that's not the case. As pointed out you're looking at going for, what is to many, inferior brands.

dog de bordeaux there both rescue .. took us over a yr to get the lad to trust ..hard work but in the end most rewarding .. 23 st between them ..If you think a car is coming to the end of its life at 5-7 years old then you need to start looking after cars better. But women are women and they want what they want
Get her on autotrader, set the filters for your budget and age and see what turns up. Likely candidates will just be similar cars to what you already have but won't offer anything noticeably better for the budget. What dogs out of interest? Could an estate be a viable alternative to an MPV? Might be able to get a Peugeot 3008 in budget. Whilst they don't set the world on fire the new Peugeots are reasonably well specced, thoughtfully designed and fairly reliable and economical (if that plays into any of your considerations).
Very rare that you have a deposit for the next car on modern PCP deals. They're calculated so that you basically pay the depreciation off and have zero equity in it at the end of the deal nowadays. But still, if OP is changing every few years then PCP might suit.at 10k per 3 years would it not make sense just to keep on a pcp type deal for circa 250 a month? Then when the term ends keep trading the car in as a deposit on the next one? That way you're actually getting a new car every 3 years rather than a second hand one?
@Acme apparently your cars are now the living dead.

Now is an awful time to try and buy a car too, prices are mental due to lots of demand and no supply. 10k for a car notably newer than your 64 plate feels a little light.
hes not the only one i have 4 in the family that apparently are terminal and one about to expire
however you guys keep selling them and we will keep hoovering up the bargains
17, 24 and 30... Yep.
I think the newest car I've ever had was 10 years old. When I had my 2005 T-Sport in 2015.
It was, but the second one I had was nicer! That was a nice car.
