Suppose its its get to that point now where I should look at upgrading my 2500k Sandybridge.

For pure gaming at 1080/1440, is the best course of action to get a 5600x over say a 3700x, considering prices are similar?

For pure gaming the 11400F is better VFM at around 100 quid cheaper than both the above with performance in between.

Just upgraded my CPU from an 2600x to a 5600x really easy setup on the bios flash for the b450 tomahawk max. Definitely runs hotter 70c when Autoclocked to 4.7mhz.

It's normal. Moving from 12nm to 7nm means the heat output is concentrated on a much smaller die so its harder to move it away to the IHS and xooker. Even with the same power usage 7nm CPUs run hotter.

So I didn't use my PC for around 3 months or so and the R23 benchmarks for multicore are down by 3000 and I think the CPU might be running a tiny bit hotter. Should I redo the thermal paste? Or will it be fine after a couple of days? I have cleaned the intake and outtake fans though to see if they help.

why dont you look at the temps ? also did you not monitor the temps 3 months ago when running benchmarks so you have something to compare to ? dont know where you live but the weather is warmer now I know my CPU temps have increased also you could be running the fan curves the same while the overall temps have increased, and if you installed more stuff and its running in the background can effect scores

So what was the RRP for the 5600X?, noticing the prices coming down since March time when they appeared to be at their highest...............are they likely to drop more than the currently £249 its currently at???.

Noticed that the 3700X is the exact same price with 2 cores more but a slower clock speed, any reason to pick the 3700x over the 5000X??

It's running around 60ish when gaming, 5900x + Arctic 280mm. Don't have anything before hand to compare it with.

Temp on no usage is around 38 which was 30 before, that's all I remember.

The adjusted prices are finally filtering through more now, so ~£240-50 5600X, ~£350-60 5800X, ~£469-80 5900X, and ~£659-70 5950X, you shouldn't see much deviation from these prices unless stock vanishes again.

The 5800X hitting straight for potential buyers of the 11700K at a similar cost right now.

Prices on the rise at OcUK, 5900X was £450 less than a week ago, then £480, now £500. I would actually consider buying one at £450 (to give a reasonable upgrade from 2700x), but going up over 10% in less than a week against a backdrop of falling prices overall, no thanks.
