There have been five Metropolitan Police inquiries into the unsolved "axe" murder of Daniel Morgan over the years.

The result of yet another inquiry will be released today; it will doubtless reveal that neither the late unlamented News of the World or the Metropolitan Police were in any way involved.

Further details can be found here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57073302
and here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Daniel_Morgan

This unsolved murder even featured in the latest series of BBC's "Line of Duty" - I wonder what GB News (the new venture recently launched by a one-time employee of and cheerleader for Rupert Murdoch) will have to say about this "News" story ;)

theres been a lot of this case in the media in the last few years. The podcast "UNTOLD The Daniel Morgan Murder" is excellent.

The only person powerful enough that such a high profile case hasn't had a conviction can only be Rupert Murdoch.

Although corruption was, and probably still is, present in the Met', I believe they were a lot more effective when they were less politically scrutinized and went around breaking a few heads "The Sweeney" style. Now they are infiltrated by liberal ex university types more suited to being social workers in a kindergarten, fearful of damnation for the wrong phraseology or robust humour.

Those who insist on ruffling the feathers of birds of prey have found, and always will find themselves occasionally eaten. It's tough on the streets, if not in uni safe spaces.

Very dark creepy time, was he exposing peadofiles or something?

If the establishment were involved it's likely to be covered up.

It goes along the lines of the 2 coppers that did it had been on the payroll of news international for some considerable time all completely illegally, which Morgan found out and was about to expose. Murdoch cannot have this so have pulled every available political string over the last 30 years to keep it all quiet. Just when the trial seems like it about to begin it collapses, mysteriously Pritti Patel pulls publication of the report at the last minute etc etc.

Its it was just police corruption, I believe they'd have just thrown officers from 30 years ago under the bus. Its someone still prominent who's got a skin in the game.

One of the biggest howlers from the UK media in the past 30 years is to have largely sucked up the official 'institutional racism' line for the allegations of a botched murder investigation rather than considering that corrupt police relationships with organised criminals connected to the likes of Southern Investigations might just have be more relevant.

I know a guy who uncle died suspiciously and that was swept under the carpet or the investigation botched by the police. They said it was suicide but it clearly wasn't. His car was found crashed and abandoned on a bridge with the door wide open. He had apparently gone over the side. They miss-handled and "lost" evidence so the case went nowhere.

So, within its ranks there have been (just lately) murderers, rapists, and neo nazis, and now it seems it's corrupt to the core. Taking the knee, manhandling women at a vigil for a woman murdered by a met officer, and on and on and on...
No wonder people are losing respect for the police. Maybe they'll sort it out one day.

If they do a bad job, at least you can vote them out after say 4 years.
Please not this nonsense again. As has been shown over the last 10 years. People dont vote out those that are useless just those that dont offer them what they want.

A lot of MPs have done the same cover ups, even the inquire May set up wasnt given the right amount of power to actually investigate it properly.

Police are different from the MPs.
If the Chief does a good job he will keep his job.
But to many complaints and one would able to recall them.

Just because your side lost, there is no need to get upset.

Probably organised crime, uncovered something that someone didn't want exposed, the conspiracy theorists would have it that bent senior police officers were involved in a coverup at this distance of time who knows.

I think it's about time people vote for the police chief for each county.

Thats a terrible idea theres already too much politics in policing already whenever theres some controversy theres always calls for the head to be fired, who wants Momentum campaigns to get police chiefs elected. Appalling.
