There's no way a dealer would ever offer retrofits like memory seats afterwards using your original example.

For the F10 5 Series - all the accessories and retrofits are here for example (some are region specific):
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partgrp?id=5D12-EUR-02-2015-F10N-BMW-530d&mg=03

Outside of this, the dealer would not touch it! Other manufacturers will be the same in the sense that approved retrofits will be covered but finding options from the factory in the brochure and asking them to do it would never be allowed by the manufacturer.

Have you even checked?
Every single car? No. Have I read the handful of posts and done a retrofit of several bits to my old Fiestas? Yes. Some bits are indeed plug and play (map light in a Fiesta), other bits require extensive understanding of the AS Built XML file and the ability to recalculate the checksum and reflash the EPROM (Cruise Control in a MK7 Fiesta). Power fold wing mirrors? Don't even think about it (Mk6 Fiesta) without basically implementing a totally separate circuit.

tbh in the old days escorts/fiesta etc , fitting abs/electric windows locking even sunroofs were fairly straightforward, swapping fuseboxes from low to high no probs even put a full set of electric seats into early mondeos etc, but those days ,maybe not completly gone are getting shorter, more and more equipment is coded to vehicles and chassis numbers , and yes can be changed but as always said everything can be done ...for a price but dont expect dealers to offer any warranty, or anymore when you trade it in.

was told no way to get daylight running lights factory fitted on my 2009 mondeo , without using a spurios kit....well a newer secondhand bumper some wiring and some relays later and it behaves just like a newer car. never say it cant be done..we will just retire to a shed and find a way around it :)

exactly but people will still try and some will succeed , but as said dont bother trying to get dealers to work on them if they go wrong...
