Just 'finished' my first ever PC build at the ripe old age of nearly 50. I'll still be using my 1060 laptop for games until I can trap a 30-series GPU, but what kind of games could I play in the meantime using just the i5-11600K?

Is it just Solitaire? Or some games at 1080P as Google suggests?

Older games should run fine, DX9 games especially. Newer ones will need to be low details, recent AAA games will probably be unplayable at 1080p.

Try some pre 2011 games and just scale back the resolution until you get satisfactory frame rates. There are some youtube channels that focus on budget gaming and demoing older hardware for fun.

Alternately a rx550, rx460, 1050ti, etc. Even some older cards are fine. Getting one for £50 will get you gaming many modern titles at 1080p for the time being.

Here's a look at what the HD750 is capable of. Looks to be mostly 720p low 30ish FPS in these higher end games. Not the worst thing in the world, but pretty far behind even something like a 1050

The problem is can you find a low end GPU for £50 currently?

I thought UHD 750 was better than it turned out to actually be, also the upcoming Ryzen 5600G will be around £250, thats quite a lot more than an £80 I3 and GT 1030 / 1050 or RX 550+

Only if you duped into buying a DDR4 version of the GeForce card. A 4gb RX550 is over £150 if you find one.
