I still find it shocking how hot these newer 3D accelerators run. AND how cool the processors are. The last system I used had an Athlon thunderbird (bloody hot) and a Kyro 2 (ice cold). The idea of a chip heating up to 90 degrees is bloody terrifying to me!

I think I'm going to swap my Stock cooler for an Arctic Cooling thingy ASAP. Do you need to buy some sort of thermal compound resin for those or do they clip on (like a cpu cooler)?

The Artic Coolers come with a tube of thermal paste (easily enough for a couple of applications), but for better results you could use AS5 etc.

They screw on so you don't need to "glue" them to the card btw :)

Yea it's really weird how different some cards perform - Mine goes up to 600Mhz memory, but not much higher than 520Mhz core. Some (like yours, you lucky lucky person!) go up to 600Mhz core etc! Luck of the draw I guess, but whatever you get it's always going to be good. :)

Well being playing around a little more, mainly because i noticed that ati tray tools had a top limit of 600Mhz on the core, when i found how to change that i am now running at 630Mhz :D core but still limited to 500Mhz ish memory, i will have to try an arctic cooler to see if that will help my memory go a little faster, but at the end of the day im more than happy with the performance as it stands. :D

Using ATItool's max clock speed finder tool, I hit 585 core and 607 memory (not at the same time) before it even started artifacting. This is in an Antec Sonata case with only standard fans, the case fan on low and stock cooling.

That's pretty good, right? I suppose the important thing is not how high I can get the speeds independent of each other but how high I can get them both at the same time and for several hours...

Managed to get it flashed and at the moment its clocked to 540 core and 570 memory and looks as though there could be quite a bit of overhead too - but i'll wait until I've got a better cooler to stick on it first :)

Managed to get my crusty old XP3000+ from 1863 (6600 LE) to 5868 without any hassle. A bit of fiddling with settings should get me 6K+ in 3dmark05.

Firstly I d like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread, your positive posts and comments where the reason I bought this card.

Amd athlon 64 3500 - stock speed.
2 x 512 corsair Pro Series.
Gto2 @ 550 core and 550 memory.

3dmark2005 = 6247 woo hoo.

Well chuffed with that - thanks again.

Opteron 146 @ stock 2ghz
ATI X800GTO2 @ 16pipes - stock cooler - using 0511 drivers
On XP64 Pro

3dMark05 - 5076...

This sound about right?

Got some overclockign to do on both chip and G/C at the moment - runnign ATI tool on the G/C overnight - topped out at 57°C and was still increasing the clock rate of the core this morning - was a 528mhz

Yet to do the memory.

Got to admit a 33% increase in clockspeed of the core is pretty nice tbh.

[edit]
Righty ho...

Got the Core to 531mhz and the memory to 612mhz

Gives me a 3dmark 05 score of 6414 which seems decent to me.
33% on the core and 25% on the memory gives a 25% boost in 3dmark. Nice.

Oh Dear...

They wernt lying when they said these cards were limited stock:|

the listing has been taken off the Overclockers X800 / X850 Catalogue Page. Im glad someone pointed out this card to me, because i was origionally going to go for an HIS Excaliber X800 AGP Card.

Oh well, they had them in stock for a few months, but now thats it, All Gone:(

HI there

Sapphire think they can get some more, but the fact is were now selling X850 XT's for the same money so they are clearly a better buy. The GTO2 may re-appear but I believe what is left is such a minimal amount.
