Hi, yes a GAY thread but....

I just bought myself a smart little smoothie maker with the intent of eating (or drinking) a tad more healthier this new year. Do any of you have one and could you tell me what your favourite recipes are (either for healthy eating or not). You see Ive tried a few already but they've turned out tasting a little "rich" :)

cheers

2 bananas, handful of strawberries and one of those yoghurt drinks. I had that for breaky this morning. :)

The general principle is to use banana as a base and just add the fruits that you like but if they are a little thick try adding apple or orange juice to thin it out. Adding ice also works well and makes it nice and cold as a bonus. Smoothies kick arse and are just sooooooooo good for you.
Here are some recipes:

Just bring the end of January a little closer and stuff the smoothie maker in the back of your cupboard. Along with the bread maker, food processor, panini press and breville sandwich toaster.

lol don't forget the coffee maker with the crema layer!

I generally just throw what ever I have in and it has usually tasted ok although recently i've been going to tesco and buying a smoothie instead of the fruit because it is cheaper I think.

My favourite is, strawberries, Bananas, small amount of pure orange juice, ice cubes, pure youghart and a bit of passion fruit.

do smoothie makers filter the seeds/pips out when you pour them? I just use my blender and end up with a very crunchy smoothy :D

Anyway, my fave at the moment:

1 banana
3 or 4 strawberrys
handfull of raspberrys
1 passion fruit
5 or 6 crushed ice cubes
1 dollop of greek yoghurt
1 spoon of decent vanilla ice cream

Yummy but very crunchy due to all the seeds :) I did buy a seive but the mesh was so fine it was taking forever for the juice to get through it so i didnt bother after the first try with it.

If you want to throw up, get a juicer and drink the juice of carrots, apple, celery and cucumber. Fruit smoothies are easy to drink and are sweet, vegetable juices are, shall we say, an aquired taste. :D

If you're a girl.

Like I said, tastes god awful..but once its down it won't come back. Your body craves vitamins like that.

You may wish to swallow the cod liver oil tablet whole with the drink, as when the capsule is burst, its very fishy.

Mmmmm fishy fruit juice. I'll stick to the beer thanks, it's got less calories than juice.

And it's got vitamins and minerals in it. Virtually a health food. :D

At the mo Im sticking to greek yoghurt, bananas and forest fruits. My mate was on about all manner of things like nutmeg extract and ginger! Bugger that! I bought this thing for ease!

My favourites:

Mango, banana and a dash of orange juice

Mango, banana and frozen blueberries, dash of OJ

Pineapple, banana and coconut milk <- this is damn good

Banana and strawberries, dash of OJ

Also done a greek yoghurt, handfull of nuts, handfull of múesli and fruit. It was good but I can't remember what fruit I threw in. Those packs of frozen summer and forest fruits from Sainsburys come in handy. And don't forget the honey.

I just chuck in 3 mandaein oranges, bit of milk, half a grapefruit or a lemon, a banana and an apple.
Smoothies out to about a pint of drink/bits.
Then I drink it. Its lovely besides the pulp, which im starting to like.

Is it healthy? No bloody clue.
