I just post to get a high post count ;)

It's nice to know that I can be helpful on the hardware forums trying to deal with people's problems, and I know if I ask for help somebody out there will have a go trying to solve my problem.
GD forum is good too, mixture of spammage and thought-provoking posts is nice, although its kinda heavily 'war-on-iraq' based at the moment, but thats to be expected tbh.
I like the sense of community, you see all these regular posters and recognise their names, laugh at their sigs, disagree with their views on immigration, insult their taste in cases (j/k ;)) stuff like that.
Saves me spending money on going out and actually socialising with real people as well... (omg I'm such a geek lol :D )

Methinks you've been spending too much time in SC :D :D

Because we have to have something outside work ;)

I like it because I can air views, always be entertained, get genuine advice and help should I need it, crush the SETI slackers beneath my steel soled boots (slippery) and crow about it, be part of a good community (commented on in The Register a year ago IIRC), have an excuse to go to Stoke on Trent one day :p

GD is set as my homepage and has been for a long time.

I enjoy the community spirit here, they say it takes all sorts to make the world go round and we certainly seem to have a good mixture here.

For me it is a combination of several factors.

- People who know a hell of a lot about different aspects of computers, you can get help on pretty much any topic.

-The range of forums, I have to say if it were just the computer forums i would probably be on here a lot less than i am, as i do not spend a huge amount of time in those forums, but i find myself spending more and more time in those forums, but you can talk about almost anything in GD, have an in depth "discussion" ;) in SC or just chat about computer games or Seti.

- The members, a good bunch who never resort to personal insults, mainly because of the rules, but i doubt many would anyway :D

-Mr Spie, for providing these forums for FREE :D

Ocuk is my home :)

It is moderated efficiently, much more so than any other forum I know of. Flaming is kept to a minimum, and we don't have a stupid amount of forums/members causing the system to spiral into chaos. The members are friendly, questions can be asked without fear of ridicule or torment (unless you're in GD hehe :)) and overall an impression of a close-knit community is depicted.

This is another opportunity to give thanks to you Spie for providing the best god-damn computing (or non in the case of GD) forum in history ;)

one or two very bright people on these boards (a hell of a lot of stupid ones too! LOL), even if your not the biggest fan of PC's you can find something to join in on, whether its games, movies or even hifi's you can post here.

I regard it as being the most complete and nice community around. I mean its busy, covering a lot of topics that you may want to read up on or help to, I know myself at one point or another have probably posted in all the forums. Also the quantity and wide knowledge of people on here to help and share information. I can come on here when my car is broken, when my windows locks up, for advice on graphics cards and if I need a luagh at work, its great. Sometimes I can manage to help back with stuff!. All this stuff is sensibly ruled and modded so it does not turn into a spammy fest which is good.

1. Wide range of forums, as my tastes have changed throughout the years I have found myself move between the various forums.

2. Due to the success of the forums you are always sure that someone will reply promptish to any question/comment you make.

There's ALWAYS something new. Even at about 4 in the morning, someone will have posted something. The sheer volume of stuff that gets posted on a daily basis is what keeps me coming here.

Definitely the SETI Team :p

Wide range of excellent members, you can get your point across, and the place doesn't degenerate into mindless flame wars every time anyone says anything vaguely controversial (down to good modding).

It also seems to be more of a 'community' somehow than other boards.
