I just did a HDtach on my machine, the results were bad!

I have an 80gig seagate cuda 5 (iirc)and some samsung 160gig jobby. Both are taching really slow.

The Seagate is hitting 15ish on burst (should be 45), and the samsung is hitting 5!!!

I have whipped out the rounded cables which i was reminded today are often carp, put in some standard cables from a sealed bag. Results are still the same!

I have got the latest chipset drivers from abit, and the results are still the same. Its crippling my machine, any ideas?!

The samsung is a 160gig drive partitioned to a 20 gig and 140gig partitions.
No error on scandisk - 20 gig is empty - 140 gig is about 120gig full.

The seagate is a single 80gig partitioned drive with nothing on it

Both drives have been scanned/defragged and appear fine. There is no audable clicking or unusual noise from either drive.

:(

In the end i just removed the IDE channels from device manager, the drives were running slow due to being in PIO mode, i checked the settings on the BIOS and UDMA was enabled.

So i removed them from the device manager, then re-booted and both drives were active in UDMA mode 5 :)

Now the drives HD tach with results that are comparable to equivilant drives :D
