I can't resist any longer, it's rate your driving ability time! :)

Give yourself a mark out of 10 for the following : -

1) General awareness/anticipation
2) Parking ability
3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco?
4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users?
5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code?
6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions
7) " wet/icy conditions
8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape

Ok now to give you a guide - 1 out of 10 is bad, like...Maureen from driving school bad, and 10 is god-like.

Will post mine very shortly...

2) 5, Multi Storey car parks are my worse nightmare
3) 5, Mrs is always complaining I jerk the car around
4) 9, Very rare I get flustered by even the worst of drivers
5) 7, Smarter than the average bear
6) 7, Better than average
7) 6, Better than average
8) 6.5, OK ish, driving scoobs for 6 years I'm not really used to loss of traction

Worth a shot ;)

1) 8, very rarely have to take evasive action, I try to read as far up the road as possible
2) 8, can get into most spaces without troubles, in any car I've driven
3) 7, most of the time I'm smooth, could improve when pushing it a bit (trackday would help with that I think)
4) 5, do often get annoyed by other road users, normally involves me calling them names, but I do get over it pretty quickly and just get on with driving
5) 7, I feel I know enough, definitely more than I feel many people do!
6) 7, not had any accidents yet
7) 6, see above
8) 5, middle-of-the-road here - thankfully never got myself badly out of shape, but I know I could do with more experience, skid-pan/trackday definitely

1) 7 - Sometimes find myself wandering in my concentration, e.g on motorways.
2) 5 - Getting a bit lazy as I get older. Who cares if it's another 3 inches out into the road?
3) 8 - Use heel and toe technique most of the time to ensure smooth progress
4) 6 - Depends. I quite like being polite to most road users, but get rather frustrated with people who simply have no idea on how to be polite to everyone else (e.g. the kind of dummy who will happily sit in a box junction, despite their exit being blocked).
5) 6 - Haven't read it in ages, can't imagine I'm better than average.
6) 7 - Tend not to drive too much at what I'd personally consider to be high speeds, but know how to get a reasonable amount out of cars.
7) 9 - Against most drivers, seemingly substantially better. I'm not going to base that on road driving, but on my track experiences. On wet tracks I've generally outperformed most people by a much higher amount than normal (not rubbish in the dry). e.g. 120 laps on a drying track, held the track record on the evening for 75% of the time (including at the end).
8) 8 - Love rwd cars and have a lot of fun going sideways in the wet in them. Wouldn't claim to be a drift champion by a LONG way, but haven't lost it whilst playing in decades.

Pretty good - old man was police driver and he taught me - never bumped or pranged in 13 years)

2) Parking ability
Hate paralell parking - will always avoid it if poss!

3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco?
Fine

4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users?
Fine - cool as a cucumber.

5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code?
Pretty good though the odd sign might catch me out.

6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions
It's a Fiesta. What's high speed?

7) " wet/icy conditions
Ditto

8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape

1) 7, pretty good I think
2) 4, out of practice now I live out of town
3) 8, but helps having a diesel
4) 6, get a bit annoyed sometimes
5) 6, rusty but its mainly common sense
6) 6, don't drive fast very much at all but never had any 'moments' when doing so
7) High speed control in wet/icy conditions? At sensible speeds would be fairly good, heavy rain and poorly drained roads means I have quite a bit of experience - 7
8) -, No idea, never had a car seriously out of shape

2) Parking ability
7 - Generally get in without problems. Don't mind doing bay, parallel etc

3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco?
6 - It's getting better

5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code?
6 - I hope it's ok :p

6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions
4 - Wouldn't like to pretend otherwise, hopeing to get some track experience though

8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape
0-5 Never lost control, but I think I generally know when I'm close to the limit for the conditions, and tbh I don't push it anyway.

1) 9:General awareness/anticipation
I'm good at this. I see things coming a long time before my friends do.

2) 6:parking ability
I'm rubbish at parallel parking so deduct points for this. Rest is fine.

3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco?
8 No problems here, never locked up and never warped a disc.

4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users?
3 Courteous yes, but patient no.

5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code?
6 Could be better

6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions
8 Excellent, done track time which helps. Will continue with that this year for more skills.

7) wet/icy conditions
7 Pretty good, but I dont push the car in such conditions

8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape
8 Very good, I dont generally push hard, but if I do I can correct problems quickly.

1) General awareness/anticipation
6 - I haven't hit anyone/thing for nearly ten years, I'll give myself 7 when I make it ;)

2) Parking ability
4 - I don't reverse park :o

3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco?
6 - Keep it reasonably smooth, need to improve my downshifts.

4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users?
8 - No point in getting mad in your little cage and being courteous gives me a warm feeling :p

5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code?
7 - Most of it is common sense, but there are still a few surprises in there on occasion.

6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions
6 - Utter coward, I know I could go a lot faster ;) However I do seem to make more progress than the majority of other road users.

7) " wet/icy conditions
5 - Wouldn't even begin to consider giving it too many beans in adverse conditions. So far I haven't been caught out.

8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape
?? - I've not had it out of shape on the public road (see 6 ;) ). Need a track day!

5) 5, What is your knowledge of the Highway Code? - err I know the basics
6) 7, High speed control of your car in dry conditions - I know when it is going to slip and can anticipate but I don't like really pushing the car.
7) 7, " wet/icy conditions - I know when it is going to slip and can anticipate but I don't like really pushing the car.
8) 5, Your ability to correct your car when out of shape - When I anticipate then usually I can get it back, but it caught me out on track. More practice needed

I'll post mine a bit later, but I think that anyone who has someone who travels with them often should get gated by their passengers too..
I asked my mum to rate me on this (I drive us to/from work every day, and I don't change my driving style just because she's in the car), this is her reply:

My Mum said:
Ok my answers are:

1 8
2 10 (Don’t let this go to your head!!!)
3 8
4 7
5 7
6 9
7 9
8 8

When you concentrate on driving you are a good driver it’s just that sometimes you let the “speed merchant” come out.

Mum

My personal rating is above for comparison.

1) 10 - Been told by driving instructor and a police advance driver that I seem to have a abnormally superior driving awarness and anticipation.

2) 6 - I'm not the best parker I will admit, but then I park nice and simple.

3) 8 - Was tought by a police advance driver so my skill should be well above avarage

4) 8 - I'm very patient, I enjoy driving and I'm not a rushed kind of person, so I have no issues. Bar people who drive 40 in a 70, 15 in a 30 etc that I would class as dangerous slow.

5) 6 - Been a while since I even needed to know anything that I didn't already know, and if I have it's been a educated guess that nearly always right.

6) 8 - See #3

7) 8 - Ill rate it a 7 as I have only had 100+hr expirience in a FWD, so seeing as RWD is a skill I'll not rate it higher.

8) 6 - See #7

1) General awareness/anticipation - I think i'm very aware of what's going on and can second guess what other roads users will do. 10

2) Parking ability Some of you may know that I used to be a delivery driver so my parking isn't bad. But on the other hand it isn't great. 7

3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco? Nice and smooth. I take pride in my driving and always set out to make it smoother. 10

4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users? I always say thank you to people who give-way to me, I give-way other other road users when ever I can, but, I can get a bit impatient to the idiots who don't know how to drive! 7

5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code? 7

6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions. Not enough experience of this as I don't drive fast often enough. N/A

7) High speed control of your car in wet/icy conditions. High speed in wet/icy conditions? I'm not Collin McRae. N/A

8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape. Not had it out of shape other than in an accident so I don't know. Like to go to a track day though.

These threads suck becuase everyone thinks they are one step away from Michael Schumacher. I mean come on, look at the number of people who think they are such driving gods they rate themselves as a 9...

We've even got Enfield who thinks he's a 10 in some situations. That's perfection, driving god. Get real - after a year on the road including one write-off? Yea, sure.

This is the reason we have so many accidents - people who think they are godlike drivers..

1) 8. Owing to riding a bike I would say this is pretty high, probably up to 9 when on 2 wheels.
2) 6. I can park if I put the effort in, but more often then not I look for the easy option.
3) 6. Though it depends on my mood and whether or not the passenger is into quick driving or wants a smooth ride.
4) 5. Patient towards people who make mistakes genuinely, extremely irritated with idiots who drive like lunatics.
5) 8. I'm sure I know the rules of the road pretty well.
6) 6. The car flatters me really.
7) 5. Once again the car flatters me but I've had a few hairy moments.
8) 5. Had the back end out many times, and high speed braking wobbles on 2 wheels and 4, as of yet to have an off or a crash (touch wood).

I think that's pretty honest.

10 is colin mcrae
1 is maureen

therefore I'm slap bang in the middle I reckon.
