After six and a half years, SETI@home Classic closed down it's servers for the last time on 22nd December 2005. Over the years, many past and present members of the OcUK forums participated in the project. While we didn't find any little green men, as of right now, one thing is for certain.

We are Number One

Yes, that's right, OcUK achieved the number one ranking in the world, across all teams - including big international teams and even big corporates such as Microsoft, Intel, IBM, HP and Sun.

We thought we'd lost out when closing day arrived, but some subsequent early spring cleaning has weeded out a few bad apples and a few more mistakes caused by whatever reason, and we have ended up moving up to number one in the world.

For all those who participated over the years, both past and present, please accept a very big

Thank You

on behalf of the team for all your efforts. We couldn't have done this without each and every one of you.

Now for the bad news - compared to a few years ago, our DC team is a little thin on the ground, and we really need new members. I appreciate that not everyone has a desire to go hunting for little green men, but that's not all we do. So, if you have an interest in medical research, climate research, animation (rendering), particle physics, or even finding those pesky green men, then come join us :)
