unplugged cable, NTL, Leicester

Hey all, over the past few days in Windows ive been having a problem with my NTL connection, i am connecting to an nforce 3 motherboard witht he standard NTL 2mb cable modem (only gets internet nothing else) however windows is refusing to see it, the ethernet port on the modem isn't lit up and windows tellls me a cable is unplugged however if i boot into my linux partition i get the connection fine as i am sitting here writing this post on linux.

whats gone wrong?

Buggered NIC driver in Windows would be my guess.

ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver in windows

If it works in one OS and not in another, both using the same network card, then it can only be a driver problem. Tried using a different version of the driver?
